Great singing, Great acting, Exquisite, Delightful, Clever

See it if commentary about the pandemic that feels real, silly, and truthful without being dire. beautiful music. fanciful staging.

Don't see it if nonlinear narrative, pandemic stuff, silly abstractness. each story does run a little long so if you're not into it, it'll feel like a drag. Read more

Quirky, Great writing, Great singing, Delightful, Absorbing

See it if Malloy's music is phenomenal and I love how dots, Annie Tippe, and James Ortiz have created a world around it. Great performances too!

Don't see it if You don't want to watch people experience the pandemic in messy, lonely ways, or if you don't like quirkiness. Read more

Resonant, Profound, Great singing, Clever, Absorbing

See it if you want to see an original, profound, smart and ultimately hopeful musical about contemporary life and connection.

Don't see it if stories of the pandemic are not of interest or if you would rather big musicals.

Intelligent, Great singing, Entertaining, Clever, Absorbing

See it if you go to theater to see and experience something that imparts another world view. These stories in song are absorbing and enchanting.

Don't see it if you expect a typical play with dialogue rather than essentially three stories told in song in some mystical place.

Somewhat disjointed and unfinished in places, Quirky and an acquired taste, Great singing/music, Strange and imaginative, Fever-dream-meets-fairy-tale, pandemic style

See it if you must see everything Dave Malloy creates. The music has an operatic-steam-punk sound reminiscent of Great Comet; story is Octet-esque.

Don't see it if you need more than lockdown and three little pigs and a Big Bad Wolf (and a touch of Red Riding Hood) allusions to connect diverse tales. Read more
