Show-Score | By Ryan McCarthy | Aug 5, 2016

Every Tuesday and Friday, we're turning the spotlight on some of our favorite member reviews. Today we're looking at shows with tickets under $50, such as "Engagements," "Good," and "Quietly!"

Theater may provide nourishment for the soul, but one thing it distinctly does not provide nourishment for is the pocketbook! Today we're looking at member reviews for shows that you can see without breaking the bank.

See it if you enjoy stand-up with a plot, have interest in issues of depression, anxiety and suicide presented with self-deprecating humor

Don't see it if you are uncomfortable with public discussions of suicide & depression, don't like one person shows or hearing a comedian recount their life

See it if you're interested in watching privileged narcissists sleep around with each other in this less than original, cliched, failed RomCom.

See it if a strange drama about group therapy in which the participants think they're insignificant comic book characters appeals to your inner nerd.

Don't see it if you wouldn't enjoy something as bizarre at that sounds.

See it if / The play succeeds in putting you in the shoes of someone whose life choices seem unfathomable. It sneaks up on you in a good way.

Don't see it if you want something short and sweet, or escapist. This show purposely keeps you firmly in our current political climate and doesn't let go.

See it if great Irish storytelling is what you seek. This is "Brian Friel" for a new generation and it's always worth seeing The Abbey Theatre.

Don't see it if small. intimate, intense story driven plays trying to make sense of the past are not for you.

Don't see it if You dislike Shakespeare, small theater, no set, no frills. Lots of steps to come up, but can call & take elevator. PS death, lies, bodices
