Featured Member Reviews: Lottery Edition

Show-Score | By Ryan McCarthy | Aug 9, 2016

Every Tuesday and Friday, we're turning the spotlight on some of our favorite member reviews. Today we're looking at shows that offer a ticket lottery, like "Cats," "Privacy," and "The Color Purple!"

Want to see a show, but can't afford a full price ticket? Well, today we're looking at member reviews for shows that offer ticket lotteries. So with a little luck and a little persistence, an affordable ticket could be yours!

[Editor's Note: In the case of "Hamilton," that would be a LOT of luck and a LOT of persistence. I have entered countless times, and sacrificed livestock to various deities from various pantheons all to no avail.]

See it if You believe in the power of words. You'll want to run home and read up everything on the founding fathers, and rap while doing it.

Don't see it if There's no reason not to see it. Everyone needs to see it.

See it if you are curious to know more about what Autism is like. If you want to get inside someone else's head and see the world thru their eyes.

Don't see it if you want an emotional journey that's easy to relate to. This play is very good, but not warm and fuzzy. It's a little cold and distant.

See it if You're up for a bit of nostalgia. Leona Lewis took my breath away with her stunning rendition of Memory. Nothing reinvented, fun to relive.

Don't see it if You want to be surrounded by tourists clapping at every little thing during the show!

See it if Want an experience that will open your eyes to the reality of the mass surveillance and tracking that shapes our lives in a fun, funny way.

Don't see it if You are looking for a straight play with emotional stakes and character arcs; avoid sharing info online, dislike feeling lectured to.

See it if you want to see the ultimate marriage of Broadway and Cirque du Soleil. Though not the greatest show, it was entertaining.

Don't see it if you prefer more traditional and classic Broadway shows or the acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil make you nervous!

See it if you want a captivating, human story, written, performed & staged brilliantly. Or, if you'd love to see a non-traditional, brave new musical.

Don't see it if small-scale musicals discussing difficult topics wouldn't interest you. Or, if you're not human and don't have a heart.

See it if You enjoy musicals that focus on the story and music rather than sets, you want great singing, you're ready for serious themes

Don't see it if You don't want a show focusing on women's experiences, you don't like gospel or blues
