Classic, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if you want to see a classic American play by a great playwright. A heart wrenching tale with a fantastic cast. Tracy Letts is incredible.

Don't see it if The only negative for me was Annette Bening's performance which was very monotone, and she seemed to be yelling as a way of projecting.

Relevant, Intelligent, Great writing, Absorbing

See it if A profound and relevant topic with Tracy Letts and Chris Walker giving outstanding performances. Important to see!

Don't see it if Maybe they don't want to see a play about man's frailties and a topic whidh so resonates for 2019.

80
Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great acting, Ambitious, Absorbing

See it if To catch a trip of actors serving top notch performances in a play that still packs a wallop emotionally.

Don't see it if An uneven supporting cast and iffy direction will take you out of it entirely. That the 3 leads are so great seems in spite of the director

80
Relevant, Intense, Great acting, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if Intense family drama, written in 1947 and rings true in 2019. Great cast and set design. Very powerful, engaging play.

Don't see it if If you don't like family dramas and prefer musicals or comedies.

Solid script, Strong acting, Polished production, Period piece, Absorbing

See it if you like Miller plays. AMS has flaws (depiction of women!) but many strengths. Plot unfolds w growing stakes (awk plot device at end).

Don't see it if tradl theater bores you. Realistic prodn. GREAT set. Didn't love Bening's flat-toned perf; Walker was stand-out. Pace is slow, but picks up.

80
Intelligent, Thought-provoking, Slow, Resonant, Great acting

See it if A powerhouse triumvirate - Letts, Bening & Walker - fuel early Miller family drama into moral cosmos despite O"Brien's shallow direction

Don't see it if It's early Miller so it's a little morally self-righteous and a little too "well-made" but themes of honesty & moral conviction never age

80
Refreshing, Intense, Great acting

See it if you want to see a classic American play well acted without any bells and whistle gimmicks from the director.

Don't see it if you don't like serious plays that deal with death, war, and family drama.

80
Absorbing, Great acting, Intelligent

See it if You appreciate Arthur Miller and great acting. Tracy Letts and Annette Benning are excellent as the parents.

Don't see it if You have no interest in a story taking place in 1947. These characters go through a lot of turmoil- it is not a happy play.

80
Intense, Great writing, Ambitious

See it if you love Arthur Miller and classic modern drama done classically.

Don't see it if you want to see something fresh and interesting from this piece.

Great writing

See it if you haven’t yet seen or read this American classic.

Don't see it if you firmly believe classics shouldn’t be revived in purist form.

Also O’Brien makes no attempt to shine a different light on this script and... Read more Read less

Quite a bit of yelling, Wonderful stage set, Of course, arthur miller, Great writing, Another roundabout production

See it if You like Arthur Miller & feel his sort of human view is lacking these days. Wonderful, affords multi-level views of action, for us & actors

Don't see it if You like well directed actors. First act, yelling replaced projecting. Only Christopher had a well modulated voice. Hearing alert!

80
Intelligent, Must see, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You like Arthur Miller and this work. Benning, Letts, and Walker are great. Loved the projections between scenes.

Don't see it if You want to see Jack O’Brian do a literal interpretation of the text. Nothing new here of note. It is AMS as you know it.
