A new dance musical based on the classic 1951 film, telling the romantic story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl and an indomitable European city.

'An American in Paris' is the story of World War II Army veteran Jerry Mulligans, who chooses newly-liberated Paris as the place to make a name for himself as a painter. Jerry's life becomes complicated when he meets Lise, a young Parisian shop girl with her own secret. Soon it becomes clear that Jerry's friends are also vying for Lise's love. This romantic tangle can only be untied through the miracle of dance set to George and Ira Gershwin's classic score.

See it if This is more of an old fashioned musical with lots of dancing. Personally I prefer something more intellectual

See it if You love dance or you love old Gershwin music. The dancing is lovely and heavily feature throughout and I enjoyed hearing some classic songs

Don't see it if Plot is very important to you. It takes forever for things to get somewhat interesting and it's very bland - especially the ending ballet.

See it if ballet is your thing. The entire show is centered around these amazing dance numbers. The staging is also exquisite and quite beautiful.

Don't see it if you want to think. The story line is quite dry and predictable. There are no elements that are surprising or thought-provoking in any way.
