"Behind the Emerald Curtain" is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the show led by two Broadway cast members. Even if you haven’t seen “Wicked”, you’ll be fascinated by the details and complexities that go into a major Broadway production. Your guides will take you through the creative process of a Broadway show, giving first-hand accounts of the birth of a new musical.
See it if
You enjoy musical theater, especially if you have seen or plan to see Wicked.
Don't see it if
You expect to literally be behind the curtain backstage or onstage. Or if you think main players will be part of the tour in any way.
Two charming ensemble players alternate giving the tour and give an animated explanation of some of what is on display, costume changes just outside the theater inside. That's before sitting down where we viewed videos of producers, head costumer, lyricist, composer, director, show manager, call manager all speaking about their role in the show. The two also spoke about the set and the theater itself. Then a question and answer for 15 to 20 minutes. Then that's it. A woman asked to go onstage a couple of times and was told that for liability reasons, she could not.
I enjoyed it, but from the description I guess I expected more, but I should not have. The description is valid. You cannot take the title literally.
