Great acting, Absorbing, Slow, Intelligent, Great staging

Stylish, Absorbing, Great acting, Spartan, Intelligent

See it if u want to see an elegant, brooding, sparsely-staged, expertly-acted, emotionally complex Pinter drama about truth & deception & infidelity.

Don't see it if u prefer ur love-triangle dramas full of mushy sentiment & histrionics (or superhero excessiveness) vs Pinteresque stiff-upper-lip stoicism.

Great writing, Intense, Slow, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if Pinter's mid-career masterwork rendered in a heightened if somewhat muted mode Extremely well acted though Ashton's Emma is a little brittle

Don't see it if Despite the production's total domination by directorial concept - slow stage revolves, no set, muted gray tonal lighting, it's first rate

Delightful, Intelligent, Great acting, Great writing, Absorbing

See it if you enjoy well-written plays where every word is important and the actors deliver every syllable and expression perfectly in great staging.

Don't see it if you want these actors to be what you have seen in recent movies - here it is not about the actions but listening to the action they describe

Masterful, Great staging, Great acting, Clever, Absorbing

See it if fan of Pinter and this play, have never seen this play before, fan of Hiddleston and Cox, dazzling direction, stunning performances

Don't see it if not a fan of Pinter or this play, upset by mild audience adoration of stars, uncomfortable with adultery, secrets & plot told in reverse

Edgy, Great writing, Great acting, Funny, Absorbing

See it if you want to see good actors working with a great script. Subtle and thrilling moments.

Don't see it if you don't like thinking while you watch a play.

Beautifully acted play about the insidious nature of extramarital affairs; even not top shelf pinter is better than most plays on/off broadway

See it if Pinter is lapidarian in constructing dialog; precisely constructed world that is incestuous & filled w secrets & 2x dealing; expertly acted

Don't see it if good but not Pinter's best; not dramatic, essentially displays class of arts-related people who use adultery to relieve their boredom

Also Acting Pinter requires mastery of dialogue, posture and most of all th... Read more Read less

Intelligent, Slow, Disappointing, Great acting

See it if your a fan of this cast, including Tom Hiddleston, or you like dramas about complicated relationships.

Don't see it if you need a pick-me-up or like something quickly paced and with lots of action. This is a slow, quiet show with minimal movement.

Beautifully acted, Masterful, Thought-provoking, Great writing, Absorbing

See it if you like Pinter; want to see a well acted & produced story of betrayal laid bare in a naked, well-lit room with no place to hide; intense.

Don't see it if you're not a fan of Pinter, sparse staging, one on one conversation; don't like a backward kind of linear storytelling; you prefer action.

Also Highly recommended.

Riveting, Must see, Masterful, Intelligent, Probably the best production of "betrayal" that you will see

See it if you have never seen a production of "Betrayal". This version lets you focus on the play itself. Great acting from the 3 performers.

Don't see it if you do not enjoy Pinter or plays that move backwards in time.

Relevant, Thought-provoking, Great writing, Great staging, Absorbing

See it if You missed the last production, and love romantic triangles and Pinter plays. I preferred the Clive Owen/Kelly Reilly version.

Don't see it if You have trouble with low voices speaking in English accents. Cannot tolerate slow moving plays or moments of thoughtful silence.

Terrific performances. terrific pinter.

See it if You appreciate Pinter and good theatre.

Don't see it if You don’t appreciate Pinter.

Quiet, Slow, Intense, Great acting, Great writing

See it if You want to see three superb actors in an intense minimalistic play.

Don't see it if This really would have been better in a more intimate venue. The staging does not do the show justice. And the actors are very quiet.

Minimalist, Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great acting

See it if you are a Pinter fan;willing to pay close attention; terrific acting by all 3 performers; clever dialogue; great lighting.

Don't see it if you don't like a leisurely paced, thoughtful examination of multiple betrayals; non linear plot; minimal staging.

Also Each character is guilty of betrayals, be it withholding information o... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if story of 7-year extra-marital affair with spouse's best friend told in reverse order - play ends with initial flirtation; secrets & lies

Don't see it if don't like sparse set or having all the main characters staying on stage in background even when when they are not in the scene

Also For the most part, I didn't particularly find the characters empatheti... Read more Read less

Classic pinter, Great staging, Great acting, Edgy

See it if Passion viewed through cool detachment, betrayal in every relationship, triangle based on playwright’s life. Chilling yet affecting.

Don't see it if Story is clear from curtain rise & its history is slowly dealt out. Quiet, slow delivery can either keep you enthralled or allow distraction

Intense, Intelligent, Great acting

See it if you like Pinter and terrific acting. Must listen, pay attention, and watch. Ideas, relationships, trust, changing desires, lots happening.

Don't see it if you want a chronological play; this is not. if you want great set; this has none; if you want a plot and story; this has but thin.

Slow, Great acting

See it if Slow emerging adult play on betrayal of love, relationships, and friendships. Want to see Loki / Dare Devil.

Don't see it if Less relatable if you're not in long term relationship / temptation to stray. Memory plays aren't your thing.

Also Diversity: Black female lead.... Read more Read less

Intelligent, Great acting, Great staging, Dated, Passionless

See it if you have never seen it or want to familiarize yourself with Pinter. Past productions have been more satisfying for me, but this is timely.

Don't see it if You don't appreciate the dry British approach to drama, which is brought to new heights here.

Also Some things only work in Noel Coward plays--a passionless, flippant re... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want to see a beautifully acted and tender performance of this play. Minimal staging but beautiful lighting that enhanced the mood.

Don't see it if You don’t enjoy plays where you need to pay close attention to each word, each reaction, and each movement.

Also A master class by all three actors.

Thought-provoking, Absorbing, Great acting, Intense

See it if you enjoy intense dramas, great acting, don't mind a story that moves backwards, and don't mind a minimalist and quirky interpretation.

Don't see it if you prefer linear, choronological shows or you are looking for something light and fluffy

Relationship complications, Pacing a bit too slow, Intense and creative design, Great casting and fine acting, Pregnant pinter pauses

See it if You like shows that highlight fine ensemble acting. Are a fan of Pinter. Have patience and a sensitive ear.

Don't see it if You are wanting splashy staging, set, and costumes. Dialogue driven dramas bore you. Struggle with shows that bounce around in time order.

Resonant, Masterful, Intelligent, Complex, Quiet

See it if a story told quietly with great simplicity and pathos --but fully, emerges like a butterfly from a cocoon

Don't see it if not sure if this is a good date play-- betrayal not a happy topic, but ultimately this is very romantic in a complex way

Also The minimalist sets are totally brilliant, and the acting is excellent... Read more Read less

Slow, Riveting, Great staging, Dizzying

See it if Small, intimate show about the ties that bind. Strong performances, characters, and script all around.

Don't see it if You don't like character-driven drama, backwards narratives, or petty, manipulative jealousies and betrayals (heh).

Also My first Pinter play, and I was into it. Great narrative framing (time... Read more Read less

Intelligent, Riveting, Intense, Great acting

See it if you want to see this Pinter play at its best with great acting and directing. Sparse, but effective staging.

Don't see it if You are not a fan of Pinter's plays & prefer to leave the theater smiling.

Quiet, Minimalist, Intelligent, Slow, Great acting

See it if excellent acting from all 3 leads. Interesting premise of telling story backward. Quiet, slow play demands concentration.

Don't see it if you prefer more action--this is all talk. If you want an elaborate set. If you want likable characters.

Also Cell phones went off at least 4 separate times in the theater. Inexcus... Read more Read less

3/5 Stars "Pinter's bone-dry, stiff-lipped tale of infidelity relies upon the audience's faith: It effectively asks that we take its word that these characters are interesting, and invest in them accordingly. But what if we don't? What if these three people...what if they merely bore us?"
