This new Broadway musical by celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin is a love story for today…and always. More…
"Hadestown" intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back with a story that pits industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love.
See it if Anais Mitchell is a great talent and this move to Broadway has been upgraded in staging and casting
Don't see it if You don’t want edgy clever resonant musicals and are more comfortable with the mundane and moon/ june rhyme schemes
See it if You’re a fan of intelligent musicals. This takes a Greek myth and gives a relevant discussion about modern separation. Beautiful music.
Don't see it if You want a laugh riot, because although there is humor this is a high drama with music.
See it if It's a very interactive, hip, jazzy musical. It's not traditional in that sense. It follows a mythic story and is fun.
Don't see it if You prefer traditional musicals like "Kinky Boots."
See it if you enjoy an exuberant cast singing a great score and dancing beautifully.
Don't see it if you want a story you can relate to. I could appreciate the themes brought out by the story but not the story itself.
See it if you liked Great Comet or Once, somewhat non-traditional shows.
Don't see it if you are looking for a happily ever after, feel good romantic musical. Not happening here.
See it if You want a lot of noise, fog, and flashing lights in your face. Talented and attractive cast, three turntables spinning most of the time.
Don't see it if You can't stand men singing in falsetto. You can't stand pseudo-gospel music and you expect a real plot and character development.
See it if We chose HadesTown because of reviews & from the opening scene to the end, this show puts a spell on you and draws you in. Just Amazing
Don't see it if I cannot imagine why not to see it.
See it if From the first moment I was totally fascinated by the music, the acting, the staging. It pulls you in and never lets go. Unique and special
Don't see it if Cannot imagine anybody not liking it. A bit like Hamilton, a bit like Natasha and Pierre, very original though
See it if You love mythology, New Orleans soul with a rock opera twist, electric performers, + sets/lighting/costuming to knock your socks off!
Don't see it if you like your Broadway in straight 4/4 time with tap dancing..You could construe the ending as a bummer, rather than hopeful
See it if You love to see something different. The use of a mythological backdrop to a relevant modern setting is engrossing and intelligent.
Don't see it if You want to see a big "princess" musical or jukebox musical.
