A musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. From bastard orphan to Washington's right-hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, 'Hamilton' is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America’s fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we’ve become. Winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
See it if you love rap/In the Heights. I'm not a fan of rap & I'm glad I avoided the show as long as I did, since it's just not my thing.
Don't see it if like me, you weren't a fan of In the Heights and don't really like rap/hip-hop. There's more rap in this one than his first.
See it if You are a millennial and haven't seen the "Lazy Sunday" Lonely Island digital short, which raps about Hamilton and the duel with Aaron Burr.
Don't see it if You grew up in the 80s with your teachers trying to be cool by incorporating rap into learning. This is the same class, three hours long.
See it if you are a fan of Lin's, Get caught up in all the hype, You understand a black Thomas Jefferson who still owns slaves
Don't see it if You saw Into The Heights and expect this to be the same
See it if The hyper energy of "Hamilton" felt like a jack hammer outside my window in the middle of the night with no end in sight. A naked Emperor.
Don't see it if The set has been used several times before at New Jersery's Papermill Playhouse and how the show won best featured actor is still a mystery.
See it if You are able to get a ticket (good luck with that) just to say you have. I know, everyone else here will go nuts for this show, but not me.
Don't see it if You dislike rap.
See it if You are into hip-hop or rap; othwise lyrics are impossible to comprehend
Don't see it if You like Sondheim, Hammerstein, Hart, Gershin, Blake, Stein, Bernstein, etc
See it if you want to follow in the masses and pretend this is the best broadway show Ever (even when it's not)
Don't see it if you like traditional musicals, are annoyed easily, haven't drank the Hamilton Kool-Aid
See it if Sorry not my thing. I like modern plays- not political musicals. The music was not my taste either. $200 I can’t get back
Don't see it if Apparently if you don’t see this you are a loser. I feel like one for falling for the hype!
