About the show

Lin-Manuel Miranda's hip-hop infused tuner about Alexander Hamilton began at The Public Theater to rave reviews, then transferred to Broadway where it won eleven 2016 Tony Awards including Best Musical. More…

A musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. From bastard orphan to Washington's right-hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, 'Hamilton' is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America’s fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we’ve become. Winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

See it if You appreciate history being interpreted in an enthralling and modern way. Incorporating rap, hop urban street lingo and fluid transitions.

Don't see it if You are offended by mild sexual innuendos, lengthy productions. And historical liberties being taken.

See it if you want to experience an historic production that makes history seem up-to-the-minute and intoxicating.

Don't see it if you can't wrap your head around rap-talking founding fathers, color-blind casting, & (so far) a nearly 3 hr running time that loses steam.

See it if you'd like to see an entirely new kind of musical -- one that makes U.S. history far more energizing than you might normally think

Don't see it if you're tired. The writer crams in a lot of details; as an audience member you can't relax. That's a good thing.

"Yes, it really is that good...I am loath to tell people to mortgage their houses and lease their children to acquire tickets to a hit Broadway show. But 'Hamilton,' directed by Thomas Kail and starring Mr. Miranda, might just about be worth it — at least to anyone who wants proof that the Americ...

"What is left to say? After every critic in town (including me) praised the Public Theater world premiere to high heaven; and after seeing this language-drunk, rhyme-crazy dynamo a second time, I can only marvel: They used up all the damn words. Wait, here are three stragglers, straight from the ...

"A second look suggests that something even more significant is going on. The breakthrough isn’t so much the incorporation of those contemporary genres; after all, Miranda already did that, throwing in Latin music to boot, in the charming 'In the Heights.' But 'Hamilton' not only incorporates new...
