See it if It's Love Actually, with singing; or Avenue Q without the puppets, yet it is its own original love letter to NYC commuters and their lives.
Don't see it if This is a feel-good romantic comedy musical with clever observational humor, look elsewhere for deep insight and character development.
See it if you want to see a light, fun show. The actors were very talented and the set was ingenious. I was pleasantly surprised based on reviews here
Don't see it if you are expecting something deeply profound. Might be better suited for locals, but it's still relatable for visitors.
See it if An enjoyable evening. Loved the set. How cleaver...a must see for everyone who rides the ny city subway

See it if You like cappella musicals and enjoy some witty banter and jokes. There are no breaks, staging for MTA props etc is clever. Great acting.
Don't see it if If you prefer a full orchestra band, do not like musicals or funny shows, cannot handle sarcastic humor, need breaks and prefer plays.
See it if you have ever taken a subway. NYC in jokes & details, astounding vocal work. touching characters a set that is practically another character
Don't see it if you hate musicals although this one is very appealing.
"The most wonderful thing is that 'In Transit' is sung a cappella and sung so richly and well you imagine hearing musical instruments where there are none...'In Transit' aims to make a range of unheard voices and unseen lives real...It makes no special pleas for understanding, it is not dripping in irony. And it has a sweet heart wrapped in a hard fist...An honest and beautifully sung testament to New York."

"A slight, perky musical...While the cast is sprightly and talented, the issues their characters face are way too familiar to be interesting...Vivaciously directed by Kathleen Marshall, the show is so smiley-faced, there’s never a doubt everyone’s problems will be resolved in a positive way by the end of the evening. The songs are generally appealing, but only one number brings the show a badly needed subversive surprise."

"'In Transit' takes that most harped-on of artistic cliches—it’s the journey, not the destination—and builds it out, with a superior cast and some catchy music...Some of the storylines played out unpredictably in the best of ways. At other times, 'In Transit' settled into overly worn devices...'In Transit' manages to create a reality-distortion field that left me feeling the MTA isn’t the hostile environment I know it all too well to be...Go ahead and swipe your MetroCard."

"On the plus side, it has a talented a cappella singing group performing the entire score to Deke Sharon’s impressive harmonic arrangements, relating harried tales of New Yorkers, most of them young and ambitious...The actors are engaging, sometimes amusing, but often over-amplified. In addition, their stories, centered basically around work and/or love, are predictable."

"A most appealing ensemble has been gathered to handle the perfectly marvelous book, music, and lyrics…They have given us the most literate, incisive, and fun lyrics we’ve had since the great days of Hart, Fields, Hammerstein, Ebb, Harnick, Lerner, and yes, even Coward, and the unique Stephen Sondheim himself…What was once a charming mouse of a show has been turned into a ‘mouse that roars,’ and I think it will appeal to all who’ve ever dreamed a dream."

"I enjoyed it…The show is a cappella, not just to put musicians out of work, but to give it a throbbing, real NYC feel, which is well carried off, complete with a sort of narrator emitting sound effects…The actors were terrific, especially Justin Guarini and Moya Angela, who’s hilarious...The resulting plots may be a little too 'Love American Style' for comfort and the subway may seem a bit too sanitized, but generally this is a slick and likeable excursion that advocates enjoying the ride."

"Like most shows that aim to be representative of a large community, 'In Transit' isn't nearly as inclusive as it intends to be...And none of the stories that unfurl here are especially original...But the cast is so winning, and the musical numbers so vibrant and playful, that you should find yourself in a forgiving mood...And for a show that might have been little more than a novelty act, there are moments of surprising emotional forthrightness."

"The point is a rah-rah one — we're all instruments in the amazing, living musical that is New York! That's a sweet thought, and this is a sweet, earnest musical…These aren't fresh topics and the show barely dips into them. But ‘In Transit’ is charming, fun, and well-staged, with a few clever inside jokes. I suspect that newish, 20-something arrivals will find their lives reflected back in a hopeful mirror."
