About the show

A new musical inspired by the themes and raw emotions in Alanis Morissette’s award-winning album. More…

Songs from Morissette's Grammy-winning album provides a rock-n-roll-charged soundtrack to the lives of the Healy's: a picture perfect suburban family that is about to explode. MJ struggles with addiction, Frankie wishes her mother would accept her and her sexuality, Harvard-bound Nick witnesses a rape and wrestles with how to act, and Steve is attempting to rekindle his marriage. Directed by Diane Paulus and featuring Lauren Patten, the show is an emotionally cathartic rollercoaster of a ride. Please be aware that this production features descriptions of sexual assault.

See it if You enjoy a show that explores a number of deep topics in a very fresh way. I didn't know Morissette's music before & it didn't matter.

Don't see it if I'm not sure who wouldn't like it. Occasionally it's a bit heavy-handed & probably could be cut a bit, but I loved it.

See it if This is not your usual jukebox musical using an artist's music. They've created a great story and the choreography is amazing.

Don't see it if You have a problem with current, relevant subjects about LGBTQ relationships, drug abuse, stresses to be perfect.

Relevant, Refreshing

See it if you are ready for a contemporary social issue roller coaster propelled by the music of alanis with talented actors/dancers/choreo/singers

Don't see it if less is more for you. This show touches n so many topics (very well) but I can see how it is a turn off for people

Also my best girlfriends and I rushed this, and we absolutely loved it

See it if You grew up listening to the original album and just want to have a good time. See if you care about serious issues or support #metoo.

Don't see it if Don’t like Alanis’s style of music. Some might find its overstuffed and there are too many plot points in which case not all are wrapped up.

Also I think this is one of the better jukebox musicals. The songs help tel... Read more Read less

See it if you are a fan of the album, want to see a more original take on the traditional juke box musical

Don't see it if you want that traditional juke box musical. JLP gets points for attempting something different but at times it feels inconsistent.

See it if you love the music of Alanis Morissette. The writer skillfully integrates her songbook into a topical story about modern struggles.

Don't see it if you're disturbed by serious topics such as drug addiction and sexual assault. The piece is serious, but it preaches to the choir.
