See it if Musical That is ambitious, clichéd, silly and fun.

Refreshing, Great singing, Great staging, Delightful, Ambitious

See it if you enjoy big musicals with pop songs you'll recognize, fantasy about Juliet living after Romeo & Juliet, funny delightful performances

Don't see it if pop juke-box musicals are not your thing, don't like loud music, you see concept of Juliet living as sacrilegious, like serious musicals

Great music, Great staging, Great singing, Funny, Entertaining

See it if you like a different take on the Romeo and Juliet tale done with great music and singing. Fun show with good musical numbers.

Don't see it if you don't like your Romeo and Juliet tale messed with. A lot of the show deals with gay couple and women's issues. Read more

Funny, Clever, Adorable, Fun, Fluffy

See it if You want a light and fluffy show that’s a ton of fun, while being clever and funny. This is a lot cuter than it looks on the surface.

Don't see it if You won’t stand for yet another loud jukebox musical — especially one that sounds like a millennial / Gen Z Top 40 station.

At times cliched, At times clever, Great singing, Energetic, Entertaining

See it if you're a fan of pop music of the 1990's-2000's; like spoof of Shakespeare that promotes diversity, feminism, acceptance. Great singing

Don't see it if you're not a fan of jukebox musicals & don't like pop music or your Shakespeare tampered with. Read more

Old yet nostalgia-inducing music, A clumsy book with engaging premise, Incredible singing, Clever, Fun and entertaining

See it if you like (mostly) 1990s-2010s pop music; enjoy “historical retelling” shows like Six, Something Rotten, or the (non-musical) Jane Anger.

Don't see it if expecting new music (Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Katy Perry, and more!) or a realistic William Shakespeare and his work. Read more

Fun!, Ridiculous, Best party on broadway

See it if Yes, it's a deeply inane jukebox musical based on superficial pop songs, but this reviewer had way more fun than this material deserves. Go!

Don't see it if you haven't listened to the radio in the 90s-00s-10s,dislike irreverent self-aware shows that lack sophistication and pander to the audience Read more

Jukebox musical done right, Girl power, Fluffy but with a message, Refreshing, Clever

See it if you like meta musicals that don't take themselves too seriously. A fun romp of a reimagined Romeo & Juilet. Strong cast, cool costumes.

Don't see it if a Shakespeare purist or hate pop music. If you don't want to see an inspiring message of women and non binary folks owning their stories. Read more

"Jukebox musicals may still be bottom feeders, but, as '& Juliet' proves, there are sometimes small treasures to be found in the murk."

Time Out New York

"Its title notwithstanding, '& Juliet' barely takes time to define its heroine; it puts her at the center of the story and then makes her its least interesting character."

New York Magazine / Vulture

"The real stars here are the songs, all from the catalogue of Max Martin and his collaborators...At its best, the show just does away with logic and gives you full-throated renditions of Martin’s more insistent anthems."

"There's something a little relentless about '& Juliet's' dogged eagerness to entertain, but nakedly joyful too: a violent delight, flipped for the TikTok era."

"What the show lacks in plotting, it more than makes up for musically. It is a jukebox, but it’s a smart one, using the songs in deft, humorous and unexpected ways."

"It’s not that '& Juliet' is unenjoyable – it isn’t. Somewhere beneath the bombast and repetition and overwrought-from-minute-one approach is a sweet(ish) and smart(ish) tale that gives voice to the marginalized."

"Don’t get me wrong: I always crave the deeper communion with a musical that tells a story with songs made new. Like Juliet, though, I’m happy to bop to a well-produced, familiar beat."
