Great singing, Absorbing

See it if A major production with full orchestra and Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford are reasons not to miss this revival that pleases all.

Don't see it if A musical that runs almost 3 hours and at times is overpowering may not interest some. A heavy-duty dark story may turn a few off.

See it if The leads

Don't see it if Too much fun in the overall sad story. The leads giving their characters more joy then regrets, and their sorrow is not believable Read more

Great acting, Awkward, Spare, Quirky, Original

See it if You love Patti Lupone or Michael Cerveris.

Don't see it if You don't care for spare, streamlined versions of fun, expensive musicals. This production was elegant and contemporary but left me cold.

Intense, Dark, Intelligent, Minimalistic, Ambitious

See it if Darker more abstract version of the show. Patti was out and the understudy was NOT good.

Don't see it if You don't like plots about murderous barbers.

Entertaining, Confusing, Ambitious

See it if Great story, great talent. Amazing music. Patti at her best.

Don't see it if minimalist staging didn't work well in this production.Confusing. The playing of instruments added distraction without increasing creativity

Clever, Entertaining, Great acting, Original, Resonant

See it if You love this show and enjoy the music, but want to see a different and original take on a classic.

Don't see it if I saw the original production with Angela Lansbury. This stripped down show was quite good, but I missed the operatic thrust of the story.
