This stirring family chronicle follows the life of a young black girl named Celie, as she journeys from childhood through joy and despair, anguish and hope to discover the power of love and life. With a fresh, joyous score of jazz, ragtime, gospel, and blues, this new production from London features a minimalist staging.

See it if You like great singing and great acting. I've never felt an audience as enthralled/ecstatic as this one was while Ms. Erivo sang I'm Here.

See it if You love EXCELLENT singing and strong female characters as well as if you really enjoy character growth that will grow you at the same time.

Don't see it if Kids under 12 will probably not understand what is happeneing. There are also some distrubing thematic elements which are eluded to.
