About the show

Broadway legend Chita Rivera stars in the historical final collaboration between Kander and Ebb and book writer Terrence McNally in this musical adaptation about greed and revenge. More…

Claire Zachanassian, the world's richest woman, returns to her financially depressed hometown to find the man who captured her heart, cast her aside and shattered her dreams. What Claire does next shocks the town to its core: offering them a new leave on life and a return to their prosperity of old, if they kill the man who abandoned her years ago. This is the tale of the lengths one woman goes to win back lost love, proving that revenge is truly the best revenge.

Great acting, Original, Disappointing, Clever, Slow

Slow, Overrated, Indulgent, Excruciating, Disappointing

See it if You want to see Chita Rivera. But you won't want to see her after seeing the play. The topic was awful, music atonal, very dreary production

Don't see it if Don't see it.

Disappointing, Excruciating, Indulgent, Slow, Banal

See it if You're a REALLY big fan of Chita Rivera and Kander & Ebb. Or to marvel at the awesome squandering of potential that this show was.

Don't see it if You want a plot that moves, musical numbers that have a pulse, or any humor/heart/cleverness.

Boring, Slow

See it if You want to see a great play ruined by its transformation into a totally boring musical.

Don't see it if You can see just about anything else instead.

Excruciating, Slow, Insipid, Indulgent

See it if You are a fan of Chita Rivera and would see her do anything, even if it's not great.

Don't see it if You need a show to be good to enjoy it.

Banal, Cliched, Disappointing, Excruciating, Overrated

See it if you want to see Chita Rivera; there's a reason it took 20 years to get to Bway - it's terrible; I laughed out loud the last 20 minutes

Don't see it if you like musical theater; it's a shame Kander allowed this to be produced; sadly, this show is burned into my memory and not in a good way

Confusing, Disappointing, Slow, Overrated

See it if You've never seen Chita Riveria on stage before or easily fall for Doyle's tricks

Don't see it if Many reasons

Banal, Cliched, Disappointing, Excruciating, Indulgent

See it if you are life long fan of Chita Rivera.

Don't see it if you don't like poorly staged musicals with a terrible score. The direction in this was atrocious and obvious. One of the worst musicals.

Slow, Dreadful, Excruciating

See it if you want a good nap or love Chita Rivera

Don't see it if you are looking for a captivating story and musical score.

Banal, Confusing, Excruciating, Slow, Insipid

See it if You like poor acting, a bad score, a stupid story, and a geriatric step touching.

Don't see it if You don't like cool sets.

Banal, Cliched, Disappointing

See it if you are a fan of the composers work.

Don't see it if you have high expectations of a show with the great rivera

"'The Visit' only rarely shakes off a stasis that suggests a carefully carved mausoleum frieze. Nor does the show ever quite make peace between its uneasily twinned strands of merciless cynicism and a softer sentimentality...'That 'The Visit' still holds the attention has much to do with Ms. Rive...

"It remains fascinating and alluring, if finally repetitive and frustrating...For all its flaws, though, you would never say the cast and crew of this often hypnotizing, eerie experiment were driven by fear or the lust for lucre."

"The better the songs are, the weirder the show gets. There is, it seems to me, something ultimately incompatible in the marriage of this prime example of the European absurd and American show-must-go-on razzmatazz. Alienation and gregariousness make strange co-stars, but then so did Kander and E...

"A second-tier Kander and Ebb score is better than a lot of musical craftsmen's best, which makes 'The Visit' a welcome curiosity...The funereal show's shortage of tonal variation makes it harder to love...One of the production's rewards is the thrilling choral singing and exquisitely textured ha...
