About the show

Because regular screenings of this film usually sell out fast, we’ve arranged a special exclusive screening for Show-Score members! More…

If you’ve never seen an “NT Live” movie before, then you’re in for a treat: the National Theatre in London really knows how to film a stage production so that it feels and sounds as if you were there.

Imelda Staunton (“Gypsy,” “Vera Drake,” the Harry Potter films) stars, along with Tracie Bennett (“Hairspray”) and Janie Dee (“Comic Potential,” “Carousel”).

“Stage and Screen: NT Live’s “Follies”” hasn't been reviewed by any Critics (yet!)

Ambitious, Dizzying, Must see

See it if Love Sondheim or this show. I was lucky enough to see it live in London. It is by far the greatest production I have ever seen of Follies

Don't see it if you are not in Sondheim or hearing privileged characters wonder what could have been.

Absorbing, Clever, Enchanting, Entertaining, Exquisite

See it if you want to see Follies finally done right.

Don't see it if you are a purist.

Absorbing, Ambitious, Exquisite, Must see, Masterful

See it if You're a "sondheimite" or a Follies Fan...AMAZING direction/acting/singing/staging/costumes/lighting-Basically it's EVERYTHING it should be

Don't see it if you cant sit thru the 2.5 hour movie without taking a break - there is no "interval"

Profound, Thought-provoking, Intense, Entertaining, Exquisite

See it if You don't mind a little darkness in your musical theater.

Don't see it if You're looking for feel-good escapism.

Exquisite, Great acting, Masterful

See it if You want to see a difficult show masterfully acted.

Don't see it if You don't like Sondheim?

Exquisite, Romantic, Great acting, Masterful, Great staging

See it if you want to see the most Gorgeously conceived production of Follies imaginable; lush, dark, and beautiful. What a gift that it's preserved!

Don't see it if you hate Follies, or Sondheim. But this production is definitely worth giving a chance. You certainly won't find another of this caliber!

Great acting, Great singing, Great writing, Dizzying, Intense

See it if you treasure one of the greatest musicals ever written beautifully and faithfully presented.

Don't see it if you prefer fluffier fare.

Needs intermission

See it if you missed the London NT 2017 production; this prod makes the midlife-crisis plot clearer than others, restores some glitz of original.

Don't see it if Didn't care for Stauton (kept wanting B Cook), liked Dee. Lack of intermission takes toll on your butt.

Also Great songs are the reason to see any production of Follies.

Entertaining, Great singing, Great music, Delightful, Great dancing

See it if You cannot get to see the live performance, it so clear and you see up close and different angles.

Don't see it if This is a musical, alittle slow, but great

Also The the costumes were excellent when they show the time in the past. A... Read more Read less

Great acting, Great singing, Disappointing

See it if You've only heard the score. Appreciate good performances

Don't see it if Expect a lavish production Want to see Elaine Stritch

Delightful, Enchanting, Intelligent, Masterful, Absorbing

See it if you love Follies or Sondheim - this is a great production!

Don't see it if you don't already know every word - the sound mixing is TERRRRRIBLE

Entertaining, Great acting, Dated, Great singing, Great staging

See it if you are a Sondheim fan who enjoys a touching musical about beauty queens from the 30's and '40's who reminisce about their lives.

Don't see it if you prefer a linear story with rap music and modern dance. There is a lot going on although it is slow-moving at times.

Also The costumes are beautiful. I don't think film does it justice. It is ... Read more Read less

Nice venue, Not the best way to seen sondheim

See it if You are a Sondheim lover. Kind of slow and tedious, and it's always better to see it live than on film.

Don't see it if Not a Sondheim fan? Doubt this show would change your opinion.

Disappointing, Excruciating, Overrated, Uneven audio

See it if You have to see every production of Follies.

Don't see it if You loved the recent Broadway production.

Also Leads can’t sing and seem woefully miscast. Don’t erase the memory of ... Read more Read less
