The Montagues and the Capulets aren’t the only ones who can hold their own in combat. After you take our “Swordplay” class, you’ll become a regular Musketeer! (If musketeers fought with pool noodles, that is.)

At the start of the class, award-winning fight choreographer Joe Isenberg will teach you the basics of (play) hair-pulling, slaps, and punches. Once you master that, you will pick up your sword -- made out of a pool noodle -- and work on a fight routine. Next, you will take your routine to the next level by working with a partner to create a story! (Pirate v. Sailor? Good Knight v. Bad Knight? Jet v. Shark?) If you wish, you can perform your fight scene in front of the rest of the class.

Entertaining, Hilarious, Delightful, Enchanting, Epic

See it if you like hands on experiences and want more than a look behind the scenes. You get to be a part of it by learning how to fake fight!

Don't see it if you don't want to be involved in activities or you are not into live theater and do not like group activities.

Delightful, Funny, Entertaining

See it if you want to have fun and learn some basic stage combat moves and choreography.

Don't see it if you don't enjoy this sort of physical activity.

Fun, Enlightening

See it if You'd like to learn about stage combat techniques in a fun environment and how to "fight" in theater without hurting someone.

Don't see it if Stage combat doesn't interest you

Thought-provoking, Refreshing, Entertaining

See it if You enjoy ANY behind the scenes work on stage. The title does not do this workshop justice! You will truly know the how and why of staging.

Don't see it if You are not going to give it 110%. Don’t hold back! You will learn a lot by being a wallflower, but it’s more fun if you are a sunflower 🌻

See it if You want to see a pro teach you how to "stage fight" (with fake slaps, punches, etc) plus have a drink at a fancy restaurant afterwards.

Don't see it if You'd be unable to stand on your feet for 90 minutes while throwing punches etc. Time goes by fast & instructor is helpful & friendly!

Entertaining, Funny, Intense

See it if If you like/love theatre and want to know how they stage the fight scenes. Not the quickest learner and unfortunately my friend didn't show

Don't see it if Up, but, I was partnered with someone else and tried my best. It was fun. I feel like I learned, while entertained. It's not for the shy!

Entertaining, Funny, Educational, Creative, Physical

See it if You enjoy hands on, interactive group instructional situations in which you'll learn how to perform stage combat illusions and techniques.

Don't see it if You are unable to participate in a physically-centered activity for an hour and a half.

Funny, Entertaining

See it if Go if you want to know how stage slaps, punches, hair pulling, and sword fighting is done. It's all about choreography and it's just fun.

Don't see it if Don't go if you don't want the "magic" of stage combat to be spoiled.

Funny, Great acting, Novel

See it if You want to learn some of the basics of how fight choreography is staged, you want to try learning a cool pool noodle routine.

Don't see it if your mobility isn't great or you don't want to see how the magic happens.

Also This was definitely an experience where you got as much out of it as y... Read more Read less

Absorbing, Entertaining

See it if You wanna learn more about stage fight and fight choreographies with a pro, in a friendly atmosphere

Don't see it if I don't see any reasons really :) It was great !

Fun, Active, Informative, Hilarious, Engaging

See it if you want to do something a little different, and you’ve ever wondered how they fight onstage without hurting each other. Fun and interactive

Don't see it if you don’t want to participate, or if you have major health/movement restrictions that would make physical activity difficult.

Funny, Ambitious, Clever

See it if you want to get into the action of a fight scene in a play or musical. Be prepared to move.

Don't see it if you expect more that possible in an hour.

Absorbing, Intense, Physical, Enlightening, Fun

See it if you enjoy participation and you like to pull back the curtain. Teacher keeps everything light but safe. Want to "fight" with sister now.

Don't see it if you like to maintain the illusion. And don't go if you're unable to participate. You can still learn, but it could be hard to sit it out.

Intense, Clever, Funny

See it if you're a stage combat beginner or looking for a fun class to take with friends/wanna fake-smack around your frenemies a bit.

Don't see it if you have experience in stage combat and are looking for a more indepth dive into the practice.

Also I think the class needs to dedicate more time to explaining stage comb... Read more Read less
