The plot is fun provided you refuse to take any of what happens seriously. It’s basically ‘Romeo & Juliet’ rewritten into a sort of woke panto.

& Juliet is a show that should not work in theory, it should come off as twee and inauthentic yet somehow it completely works. Told through the medium of a modern pop song that results in a tour de force of pop culture, feminism and Shakespearian in-jokes that has something for everyone to adore.
