See it if you want a funny show where you can just enjoy without thinking too much (on any for that matter)

Don't see it if you think you'll get annoyed at how basic the magic is. Read more

Entertaining, Funny, Clever

See it if you want to see a show with wit and charm, with opportunities for audience participation (sit in the stalls for this).

Don't see it if you want a show that is captivating from start to finish. The Mind Mangler was brilliant but some of the other acts lacked the same presence

See it if You enjoy a good laugh intertwined with (attempted) magic tricks! Very entertaining show.

Don't see it if You aren't keen on clichés as some parts felt a little like that or are looking for a deep show. This is a great fluffy night out!

See it if you enjoy mischief theatre. This show is fun but isn’t their best work. I saw the original cast who were great.

Don't see it if you don’t like slapstick or farce

Mischief is so adept at developing rapport with an audience, it works anyway. As Paul Daniels used to say: that’s magic.

If you enjoy watching flustered English people get more flustered as stuff goes wrong – and let’s be clear, that is literally their entire shtick – then ‘Magic Goes Wrong’ sees them pulls the trick off once again.

Everyone, on-stage and (manifestly off) works their socks off to keep things continually derailing on time (direction by Adam Meggido).

The show is unashamedly silly but also affectionately celebratory of a kind of variety theatre that may have long vanished - but makes a welcome return here.

It’s executed with love, determination and skill. Tommy Cooper, you suspect, would have loved it. I know I did.

But, though it doesn’t hit the highs of some previous Mischief outings, it remains a solidly entertaining show, from a company evidently keen to test itself, and, for once, there are a few sweet instances where everything goes right.

Stunts and tricks go awry in this slapstick romp, though the running gag makes it hard to conjure suspense.

Those who love the "Goes Wrong" brand will have a pleasant number of laughs to keep the mirth coming, but it's hard to shake the feeling that, for a large portion of the run-time, Mischief may have missed a trick.
