See it if you love Marisa Tomei. She's wonderful. Throws herself into a showcase role and carries the play.
Don't see it if you're expecting typical Tennessee Williams. Saw it with two non-theatre people who said they had a hard time understanding the language.
See it if You adore status quo teen drama about dweebs who just want to be popular at all costs.
Don't see it if See Mean Girls instead. It’s sharper and has more complex characters. That being said, the teens in the audience loved it. Cult following.
See it if You enjoy watching a cast have a blast on stage.
Don't see it if You’re uncomfortable with queer and black themes, or you prefer concrete plot lines over Brechtian ones.
See it if you're a fan of the movie. The adaptation is great and the actors have amazing comedic instincts. Also loved the bathroom usher.
Don't see it if you didn't like the movie.
See it if you love Tina's music. Adrienne Warren is a star. She transforms herself into Tina, body and voice. People were on their feet for her.
Don't see it if you're over slightly cliched biopics which jump decades at a time. The book needs some work.
See it if You love “immersive” theatre which requires a $25 drink minimum to enjoy.
Don't see it if You prefer shows with strong plot, direction, stakes, and relationships. I feel bad for the cast; they are trying so hard.
See it if You’re interested in biopic theatre and want to see April Matthis do an amazing job of bringing Toni to life.
Don't see it if You’re not interested in direct address or historical figure theatre.
See it if you love amazing costumes, bio-pics, and CHER. This is not a good show, but it's so entertaining. Had a lot of fun. Light and fluffy.
Don't see it if Your go-tos are Chekhov and Shakespeare.
