Great singing, Great staging, Masterful, Refreshing, Entertaining

See it if If you like the Temptations’ music, this includes all the hits and just enough history. Lots of great dance moves. Top jukebox show.

Don't see it if If you don’t like Motown music and seeing multiple songs with smooth dance moves. There isn’t any real growth - just 1 thing that works.

Great staging, Intense, Riveting, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if Of courage Dinklage is amazing but so is the choreography. The acting is super from top to bottom. I cried thru most of the final section.

Don't see it if You don’t like stylized sets or gorgeous language. Also don’t go in you expect a jazzy ending.

Riveting, Absorbing, Great acting, Great writing, Entertaining

See it if Well condensed and clever rewrite of the much-loved book. Creative staging. Plot very clear. Mostly well miked.

Don't see it if Several changes from book disconcerting for those who know the novel well. Sound for male lead sometimes muddy while rest was clear.

Confusing, Great singing, Ambitious, Disappointing, Relevant

See it if You enjoy a capella singing and insights into the life of a gay teenager in an all-male boarding school

Don't see it if You dislike caricatures rather than characters or if you mind not knowing whether an introduced character will matter or not.

Slow, Romantic, Refreshing, Exquisite, Delightful

See it if This is a small scale production exquisitely presented on Broadway. It's a musical play with small moments where little changes & that's ok.

Don't see it if This is as slight a musical play as exists. Very little happens and that's not what some people expect. I honestly thought it would flop.

Enchanting, Entertaining, Great singing, Masterful, Great acting

See it if If you like Bartlett Sher productions of the finest of musicals from their peak period on Broadway. Lovingly presented by top performers.

Don't see it if If you're so familiar with classic era Broadway productions that you no longer find them entertaining, stay away.

Absorbing, Entertaining, Dizzying, Quirky, Overrated

See it if Go if you've ever wanted a guided tour to where the best caricatures are at a time when you can get close enough to see them.

Don't see it if If the caricatures are of no interest, don't go.

Clever, Entertaining, Thought-provoking, Relevant, Masterful

See it if Cranston gives his all in the lead role. Astonishing how a script from the 70s still so relevant. Fine staging. 2 supporting excellent.

Don't see it if Don't go if you dislike loud productions or if you can't manage 2 hours straight thru. Also know that this has not been updated but for tech

Absorbing, Ambitious, Epic, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if The two parts do a beautiful job of living in the Harry Potter universe while expanding the story to another generation. Father-child x 3.

Don't see it if You think a play lasting almost six hours is absurd.

Great staging, Anti-semitic, Propaganda, Ambitious, Thought-provoking

See it if The set and the staging is superb and acting excellent. Equates Holocaust deaths with civilian war deaths. Anti-Semitic and untruthful.

Don't see it if If you don’t like a heroine whose entire purpose is to take advantage of another and to publish items not belonging to her.

Ambitious, Great writing, Confusing, Indulgent, Intelligent

See it if Very witty vignettes about attendees at a nun’s funeral means lots of characters, but relationships are clear. Definitely moves along

Don't see it if You like staging not to be awkward and you prefer any type of resolution to the questions being presented. Very frustrating.

Clever, Great staging, Slow, Intelligent, Great acting

See it if Superbly adapted from GB Shaw to focus on the raw bones of the story of Joan of Arc. Condola Rashad is a power and is well supported

Don't see it if Joan was a fanatic who believed everything she thought was ordered by God. She can be wearing. No surprises or big changes from Shaw plot.

Great acting, Intense, Confusing, Clever, Disappointing

See it if You enjoy superb acting performing a play that requires them to shift wildly from one behavior to another. Lots of ideas here, but fragments

Don't see it if You like a play where the motivations behind actions are clear and where the characters act consistently. I kept pushing this to be better.

Upper W Side
Ambitious, Great staging, Intelligent, Relevant, Intense

See it if You’d like a detailed primer on how the junk bond craze flourished and then failed. This passion for making money is always fascinating.

Don't see it if You find the financial world confusing or dislike a talky show. Also don’t go if you have bad memories of such times

M. Butterfly
Midtown W
Slow, Indulgent, Great acting, Banal, Disappointing

See it if Story no longer carries any weight. Well acted but the story is not worth showing on stage. Glacially slow if well acted.

Don't see it if You prefer something that moves at a pace faster than a snail. Want more Jan one good role player.

Funny, Entertaining, Indulgent, Relevant, Clever

See it if You’d like to see how the gay world was approached decades ago by a cast that’s sterling. Only wish Urie had played it as a fresh role.

Don't see it if You get offended by anything gay.

Prince of Broadway
Midtown W
Ambitious, Confusing, Great singing, Indulgent, Entertaining

See it if You’re familiar with Prince’s work and can enjoy songs without context or introduction. Dead for 1st 1/2 of 2nd act.

Don't see it if This is not much in the way of a biography if that’s what you want. It’s just one tune we’ll-prepared after another.

Clever, Must see, Great staging, Entertaining, Enchanting

See it if You saw the movie -- or if you don't. Follows movie closely but adds the emotion of singing and staging. Very well done. Insist on Andy Karl

Don't see it if You're going to get exasperated by how long it takes the main character to change and be positive.

Midtown W
Delightful, Great singing, Great staging, Intelligent, Relevant

See it if Lots of wonderful choreography, singing, music. Entertaining and relevant with servicemen still returning from wars.

Don't see it if You don't like swing music and you like your musicals to be totally unrelated to the real world.

Midtown W
Delightful, Masterful, Entertaining, Ambitious, Riveting

See it if Schuler, Pasquale, and Clarke are Broadway favorites and are terrific. Sondheim meant to provoke conversation which makes it fun.

Don't see it if If you want excellence from entire cast. A few of their voices are a bit weak. How I missed Mark Kushner. Coleman fine to replace Harris.

Funny, Delightful, Hilarious, Relevant, Great acting

See it if You'd like to see an old play updated to now or you enjoy seeing universal themes.

Don't see it if You want to see a drama or don't enjoy ensemble pieces.

Present Laughter

Funny, Entertaining, Fluffy, Great acting, Intelligent

See it if You love Noel Coward even when he's not in prime form or if you enjoy a fine troupe of veteran actors giving their all to an uneven script

Don't see it if You want only wittiest of Noel Coward. There are two rather irritating characters to ignore. You shouldn't expect a plot that makes sense.

Refreshing, Relevant, Intense, Edgy, Ambitious

See it if Even if you’re totally u familiar with Alanis Morissette’s album, this show touches on so many relevant current issues with great music.

Don't see it if It for someone who dislikes loud music or edgy issues. Similar to Wicked in terms of constant activity. Must be open-minded.

Linda Vista
Midtown W
Funny, Great staging, Intelligent, Great writing, Clever

See it if Very witty and well-written with super staging. Adult examination of how hard it is to form relationships and not hurt others.

Don't see it if Has full frontal nudity for both sexes. Main character is sometimes insufferable in his lack of self awareness. Follows life so plotless.

Clever, Slow, Funny, Fluffy, Indulgent

See it if You want to see Elaine May and enjoybkightweight dare.

Don't see it if You’d like to see this excellent cast be asked to be something other than repetitious. Every joke worked to its end and beyond.

For a previous production
Clever, Delightful, Great staging, Hilarious, Masterful

See it if You like multi-door farces where timing is everything. This is an absolute classic of its kind where you start laughing early & don't stop.

Don't see it if If you dislike farce and progress that's measured by one disaster after another.

Torch Song (NYC)

Clever, Dated, Funny, Great writing, Entertaining

See it if Go if you love Michael Urie. Altho I think he's miscast, he has a wonderful supporting case for a play about a different time.

Don't see it if Don't go if Michael Urie's sometimes over-the-top performances bother you or if you were hoping this would be updated before Broadway.

Excruciating, Overrated, Quirky, Raunchy, Disappointing

See it if If you're familiar with Sesame Street and find using puppets as a form of stand-up comedy, you'll love this. I was bored much of the time.

Don't see it if If unfamiliar with Sesame St, much of the show will mean little to nothing. If puppets doing sex acts aren't funny, even if not offensive -
