Don't see it if -you need a deep character dive (it's an ensemble piece w/many narrative arcs.) -I *would* say some of the songs are a little clunky.
See it if you want to see two very impressive actresses sing haunting Scottish-folk songs w/just voices & live-looping, w/a whimsical storyline.
Don't see it if you want a more traditional big-theater musical with elaborate sets & costumes. Accents are sometimes hard to understand but also endearing!
See it if You enjoy Spanish-language dramas that deal with politics, class and the media.
Don't see it if You don't want to deal with Spanish subtitles (if you don't speak fluently). It's also a bit slow at times and maybe 15-20 min too long.
See it if you like musicals w/unusual multiverse storytelling, and some often-inspired Company-esque existential lyrics!
Don't see it if you have high vocal standards - some of the (community-theater) singers are a bit pitchy, not to mention too quiet to be heard over the band
See it if you enjoy silly, raunchy Jewish humor about self-acceptance andsome endearing (sometimes catchy) songs and performances from child actors
Don't see it if you want more substantive and polished musical numbers, or can't handle a fair amount of un-PC jokes about religion and wetting the bed.

Don't see it if you want well-resolved endings and/or expect it to be as cutting and unsentimental as the book. Plot could use some cleaning up!

Don't see it if you want something with a lot of energy and zip. This has slow moments and, while poignant & funny, is often tedious in getting to its point
See it if you and/or your kids know the movie version and love the songs/story. It's very similar and is a faithful & lovely adaptation of the film.
