See it if You want a heartwarming fun uplifting show in these times of insanity. Rob is at his peak. It’s the Hairspray of this time in history.

Don't see it if cliched stereotypes of secondary characters are things you can’t overlook (the campy gay couple,etc). The ‘updating’ falls flat in that area

See it if You like Tracy Letts plays in general. one of those pieces that isn’t necessarily enjoyable but it completely necessary. Especially now.

Don't see it if You don’t like to work watching a show.

See it if Most people know if they want to see this or not, I thought I wouldn’t. So here is what I would tell me ‘see it if you loved Altar Boyz’

Don't see it if There’s no place in this theater for a conservative audience (and in my opinion there isn’t any place in theater period for them anymore)

See it if You like that music. They sound great. But. Not for me. At all.

Don't see it if I mean. I don’t know why people like it. I actually dozed off and the only thing i remember is a line ‘why are you wasting your time here’

See it if the actors are all great. Alexander is a national treasure. Deals with relationship issues without taking itself ‘too’ seriously.

Don't see it if You only see a few things each season. There’s better out there and it was great, but not ‘memorable’ per se.

See it if It’s just damn good theater. One of those things that reminds me why live theater will never die.

Don't see it if You can’t deal with nudity and explicit sexual content. Anything else that you don’t like means it’s doing it’s job.

See it if You MUST see this interpretation of Gee Officer Krupke even if you hate everything else. You think revivals should strive to reinterpret.

Don't see it if You ONLY want to see exactly what you know - just rent the movie. But also to reiterate - you MUST see this version of krupke.

Also The rumors they are rolling back the new choreo are upsetting - it was all brilliant and completely the same tone as the original, but just the modern version of it - and more visceral where it should be.

The projections are too much, especially in the first half - but they do pay off later on (and they mitigate the rear mezzanine problems at that theater)

Granted if you spring for expensive close tickets, you’ll feel gipped by how much of the time the actors are still 50 feet away from you in Doc’s and the sewing shop

There truly was no place for i feel pretty without an intermission. And i usually feel no material should be cut. But it wouldn’t have fit.

The rumors of somewhere being cut are exaggerated, it’s just the ballet, and the presentation of the song itself was the second most stunning part of this production.

It’s gonna be divisive, so was Oklahoma - but I hope the creative team and producers stay the course and let it be.... Read more Read less

See it if You are already a fan of the show, or of Christine Sanjous - she was stellar. It’s always good to hear the songs from this underrated show

Don't see it if hard to follow if you don’t know the material - updates to modernize it and make Nick a woman were ambitious and needed but incomplete.

See it if You have a heart. This even turned my inner Scrooge into a happy dude after a rough pre show evening. Surprising and a different version.

Don't see it if You are there only for the ghosts. This version is much more about Scrooge’s journey than most. It took a second to get past that for me.

See it if You enjoy seeing theater that tries to tell stories in different ways. This show was simultaneously completely relatable and foreign.

Don't see it if You don’t like to think at the theater. You like straightforward storytelling.

See it if you really like Dinklage or Jenner - they're both great. The director continues to have a great visual vocabulary.

Don't see it if You're hoping for anything new or relevant in Cyrano. The music doesn't add anything other than time.

See it if You like the movie or similar films (Blinded by Light, etc). I'd be surprised if this didn't win a ton of awards and get a broadway xfer

Don't see it if You don't like 80s themed music. You don't like british style theater/cinema. You like big production value and standard musical choreo.

See it if It was a cute night out. I remember very little of the film but still enjoyed it.

Don't see it if It definitely is a bit raunchy. So. If an abundance of low brow humor is a turn off it may not be for you.

See it if All three actors are quite good, and perhaps close up where you would really feel their performances the play would have more life.

Don't see it if You don't appreciate pregnant pauses. My feeling was that every time they wanted to communicate subtext, they were directed to be silent.

See it if You are able to tune out the audience around you or don’t care if you can’t hear dialogue. The sequences that soared really soared.

Don't see it if You are easily distracted and can’t afford to buy five rows for yourself. You want to see a concert (don’t ruin it for the rest of us)

Also I have no idea how to score this show. It was like I bought tickets to Dear Evan Hansen or Next To Normal but was surrounded by people watching Rock of Ages or Mamma Mia. I’m not even sure if I could tell you the plot.
This was upsetting as I love Alanis and have always thought her material would make great theater and had been super excited for this for a while.
So I’m operating under the assumption it is probably great even though I had a terrible experience and am scoring it ‘good’.

See it if You want a thought provoking if sometimes difficult to navigate evening. I’ll probably lose sleep over this one.

Don't see it if You want flawless theater. The charm of this is the flaws and how live theater can always change.

See it if You like the franchise in general. Aline Mayagoitia was a special standout. You’ve seen all the shows currently running.

Don't see it if You prefer the nastier predecessors - this outing was a bit tame. You’re not up to date on broadway- the funniest bits really need reference

See it if You like the rest of Tracy Letts’s cannon. This is tamer than his other material but just as solid.

Don't see it if Onstage sex is a trigger (it’s masterfully done). It didn’t have quite a strong catharsis as compared to his other plays.

See it if You’re a fan of Adam Rapp and/or Mary Louise Parker. You like plays that leave you thinking and wondering after. You appreciate theatercraft

Don't see it if You want something upbeat and fun. If you’re into ‘ah-ha moments as this leaves the audience with more questions than answers.

See it if You enjoy shows in the vein of little shop, toxic avenger, etc. it’s paving it’s way to a well deserved spot in that lineup.

Don't see it if You don’t enjoy dark comedy. Most of the biggest laughs are a bit guilty. It’s also clear the material still needs some work.

Also I can’t wait to see what this can evolve to in future incarnations.

See it if The singing is fantastic. The choreography is fantastic. Realizing he started this in 2005 is fantastic.

Don't see it if the material was dark and the attempt at hope in the darkness didn’t really land. Great theatricality but I’m not sure what I took away.

See it if You’d enjoy a modern mashup of Rocky Horror, Pippin, and god knows what. When it soars it truly soars

Don't see it if But just as much of it is incomprehensible (just like rocky horror so haha). It’s also loud. And sweaty. So choose your own adventure.

Don't see it if It just felt so caricatures and backpatting. Just not my thing.

See it if You want to see two actors working their craft with solid material. I don’t tend to like 1 person shows but still enjoyed this.

See it if You want to see just how much can be done with a musical without altering the text.

Also This may be the first time we’ve REALLY had a deconstructionist revival of a musical the likes of which we often see with Shakespeare. I am so thoroughly excited about the next several decades and what kinds of doors this production will open. But I completely get why some people hate it (i mean this is the only time i haven’t hated oklahoma so my perspective is different)
I gave it a 95 instead of 100 only because it requires a familiarity with the material to appreciate it and for anyone who doesn’t know the show already a lot could be quite confusing.
