See it if you like musicals with amazing, genius and dense score, book and staging all throughout.

Don't see it if you cannot stand rap music, or do not want to digest fast-paced musicals with extremely dense lyrics, contents and references.

Entertaining, Overrated, Bad book, Cliched, Great staging

See it if you want to see the wizard world recreated on stage. The visual effect is truly amazing.

Don't see it if you want a strong script with fast and rich plot, and characters that are consistent with the how they are in the Harry Potter novels.

Cliched, Entertaining, Delightful, Great singing

See it if you like the movie or like Sara Bareilles. Sara's score is the best thing about this musical.

Don't see it if you expect a real feminist musical.

Refreshing, Masterful, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if you'd like to see a classic recreated beautifully with small updated changes to the book and corresponding adjustment in acting/directing.

Don't see it if you disagree with any changes to the show's book and direction.

Thought-provoking, Great singing, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if you like an original story and good music, with flawed characters that you can identify with.

Don't see it if you hate teen drama, hate dishonesty in any human, or expect the score/book to be profound or has some sort of reconciliation in the end.

Tried but failed, Too fast, Dizzying, Disappointing, Ambitious

See it if you are familiar with the show already, and are interested in a vastly different production

Don't see it if you are not familiar with the story or are seeing the show for the first time. You will likely be confused and not moved at all.

See it if you enjoy a hilarious musical comedy with an exceptional cast

Don't see it if you expect the musical to express profound feminist ideas with an updated book

Clever, Great staging, Great acting, Hilarious, Must see

See it if you enjoy musical comedies that parody a lot of cultural and religious references, and actually have a heart despite crude jokes.

Don't see it if you cannot stand explicit languages and crude humor in comedies, or cannot bear the mocking of religions.

Also I've seen the show five times on Broadway between 2013 and 2018, and I... Read more Read less

Desperate Measures
Midtown W
Delightful, Funny, Silly

See it if you enjoy a silly western comedy loosely based on Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, with a devoted cast and some funny moments.

Don't see it if you expect to see something deep or extremely hilarious. The humor is sometimes cliched and does not always land.

Clever, Great acting, Great staging, Great writing, Must see

Delightful, Great singing, Great staging, Beautiful, Charming

See it if you like a beautifully staged show with an energetic cast. The staging is creative and impressive, and the cast is on top of their game.

Great acting, Enchanting, Touching

See it if You like touching performances from a great cast. Special praise to Bernadette who made me cry, and Santino who is an affecting cornelius.

Overrated, Fluffy, Great staging, Cliched, Banal

See it if you have not seen many (good) musicals before. Its staging and costume is usually pretty mesmerizing for those new to musical theater.

Don't see it if you can see any other Broadway musicals that are actually good and less touristy, or you expect good book and fully developed characters.

Disappointing, Cliched, Great acting

See it if you are such a big fan of Four Seasons that a subpar production will not affect your experience.

Exquisite, Great acting, Intelligent

See it if you want to experience a different kind of musical. The show is quiet, subtle, profound yet so touching. Simply exquisite.

Don't see it if you'd prefer a traditional loud and funny musical. Those who fail to get the show's unique charm may find it boring.
