"Every one of these plays is good or interesting in its own right, even if Jasper never quite brings them together to form any sort of grand thesis. The stories are all fairly distinct, and while they are mostly in the same thematic ballpark, they lack a certain specificity and focus that would make 'Pressing Matters' really cohesive...Everyone has at least one standout performance...On the whole, 'Pressing Matters' is an interesting evening, with six stories that are each uniquely compelling." "'The Door' primarily consists of two characters addressing the audience, and it almost feels like two solo shows with similar themes played back to back. Mireminy and Ebrahimi are more than up to the task here, bringing real passion and urgency to their performances. Periodically there are transitional, dialogue-free sequences, more in the 'performance art' vein...Those interested in boundary-pushing theater will find 'The Door' worth entering." Full Review
for a previous production "While by no means does Dipti Mehta’s one-woman show shy away from the more brutal aspects of its story, it also reveals itself to be full of life, humor, and beauty. This is the show’s great triumph…Mehta effortlessly switches between numerous characters…'Honour' ably juggles tones and styles, combining heartbreaking storytelling with jokes and dance numbers...If there’s any criticism, it’s that 'Honour' is a bit long...A highly successful piece of theater." "Director Ajene D. Washington’s interpretation of this story is simple and effective, never getting in the way of the text, as conveyed by Timothy Simonson’s fantastic performance...Simonson knocks it out of the park here...If I’m going to nitpick, there are some anecdotes that are more exciting than others...Ultimately, 'Adam' is a classic American story, both educational and inspirational, that anyone with an interest in history or politics will enjoy." "Kevin Demoan Edwards’ script has a light touch, delving into these issues skillfully with real insight and nuance. Care is taken not to make obvious who is right and who is wrong, to a degree that may frustrate some audience members…It’s great, subtle writing…The play never takes the easy way out...There’s a majesty to the final ten minutes of the show that I found deeply moving...Some will find the conclusions of 'Black & Blue' easy or naïve. I found it beautiful, human, and full of truth." Full Review
