Before moving the to the Tristate area in the 1980's , I always tried to see a show when visiting NYC and had seen a few touring ones back home.
When I finally moved here , we had a bianual tradition to see a Broadway play . One of these times, I remember seeing "Sarafina!" a musical set in SOWETO, about Apartheid in South Africa. It was moving, sad and uplifting ... all at the same time. This is when I knew I was hooked! I walked out changed, I had experience something that added a layer to my life. I knew from then on, I wanted those experiences, to live them, to cherish them, to learn from them and to be part of them. Few shows have truly moved me like that one, but when they do, they never leave me.... as have, the original Les Mis, Next to Normal , Hairy Ape , Hamilton and now Dear Evan Hansen ,I look forward to so many more...
