See it if If you like shows that make you think. A deceptively well-structured piece focusing on how women are unprotected by the Constitution.

Don't see it if Occasionally heavy-handed and padded play - deliberately seems to meander to make a point. Best if you share point of view of playwright.

Don't see it if You crave a play that makes you think beyond the obvious, acting that finds complexity of a character. You hate pause-inspired performances

See it if gorgeous sets, costume and score. A visually splendid production. Well acted, sung and directed. Sexism is toned down nicely.

Don't see it if If you prefer darkness in theater or in life, this show is not for you. Even the social messages are delivered with delicious wit and humor.

Don't see it if You need Andrew Lloyd Webber hits every other song. Solid score, nothing more. No bells and whistles scenery just function. basic, basic

Don't see it if You don’t like excessive violence. Can accept excellent acting by only half the cast. Accept confusion caused by contemporary clothing.

Don't see it if You have trouble with material that turns dark and disturbing. Need happy endings. Cannot accept plot devices that seem too convenient.

Don't see it if If you are in a relationship with a crazy dispicable person and fear seeing it on stage. if you like theater lacking in shading and nuance.

See it if You like ambitious theater that makes you think and feel. Very few surprises as conclusion is inevitable. But the journey is raw and tragic.

Don't see it if You want to feel joy in the theater. This is a tragic story about the price of having a proud gay identity in a repressive culture.

See it if If you love Cher or the music of Sonny and Cher. Appreciate the lavish, over-the-top costumes of Bob Machie.

See it if If you’ve heard the term Brechtian and didn’t know what it means see this play. Written in 1941 it’s a chilling look at modern politics. Wow

Don't see it if You crave escapism entertainment. If you fear acting that doesn’t do all the work for you. If you want to think about the experience later.

See it if Wonderful insight to a brilliant writer. Bill Irwin gives a lecture and makes it feel like conversation. Homey, comfortable & intelligent.

Don't see it if Should have a working knowledge of Beckett. Not for those who dislike excerpts. Intellectual experience lacking emotional variety.

See it if An often brilliant production of Uncle Vany often rudely interrupted by Juliet from R&J. Some gorgeous visuals on almost bare stage.

Don't see it if Not for people who love the classics as written. High levels of pretension that rarely help the story or the production.

See it if You enjoy sophomoric material, indulgent performances and predictable reveals. Some solid moments, but an erratic pace is hurtful.

Don't see it if You don’t mind spending 2 1/2 hours at a play that shouldn’t be more than 90. Overwritten and overacted. A miss, a miss, a palpable miss.

Don't see it if Knowing in first week of previews it hasn’t yet found its feet, especially with pace and comic timing. Either extremely funny or just slow.

See it if I’m a little late to the party but if you love Bette Midler, she’s a great Dolly and David Hyde Pierce one of the best Horace’s I’ve seen.

Don't see it if You dislike old(classic) shows that are simple in text but lavish in design. No reason not to be entertained by something on stage.

See it if You like classic theater with large cast. A big aria for everyone - especially for central characters. Denzel’s Hickey is solid and fresh.

Don't see it if Very long at almost 4 hours. Extremely repetitive, with every point hammered home. filled with emotional misery but strangely uplifting.

See it if Some wonderful social insights expressed brilliantly. Shephard is keen observer of the disenfranchised, play still speaks for them

Don't see it if Without realism or concise storytelling. Play is strangely relevant though storytelling is dated. Repetitive and verbose but fascinating

See it if light-hearted fun, with just enough message to validate the silliness. Perfect cast who create types you love. Just relax and enjoy.

Don't see it if If you don’t like traditional 2 1/2 hour musicals that exist only to enertain. If you didn’t like Drousy Chaperone you won’t like The Prom
