Clever, Confusing, Great acting, Great staging, Refreshing

See it if You want a creative, perfectly acted, and hilarious show. I LOVED Amy and Laura, and the men were great too.

Don't see it if You want a linear plot or emotional/climatic payoff. This is a lighter, creative show.

Absorbing, Enchanting, Great singing, Masterful, Profound

See it if You want something like you’ve never seen before. I absolutely LOVED this show. Katrina and the rest of the crew were perfect, plus the music

Don't see it if You don’t like slower shows? Idk I thought it was absorbing but others have complained about the pace... (ignore the haters)

Beautiful, Classic, Entertaining, Enchanting, Great staging

See it if you want to see Bette being Bette in top comedic form. An amazing cast of singers and dancers in a lush and beautifully classic performance.

Don't see it if you want depth because it's very light on story.

Entertaining, Funny, Great singing, Fluffy, Fun

See it if you want the ultimate guilty pleasure show. It's light on substance, but hugely entertaining. Brendon is an AMAZING vocalist, and Lola too!

Don't see it if you don't light drag queens, and don't want a whole lot of fun at the expense of some story.

Also Go see Brendon Urie before he leaves I thought he was perfect in this ... Read more Read less

Absorbing, Enchanting, Entertaining, Great singing, Fluffy

See it if you want to see a spectacle truly like no other. The lighting, staging, directing etc is exhilarating. The whole cast is A+.

Don't see it if you can't get past the fluffy, vapid moments (which actually add to the show if you "get" the show, otherwise seems weird/out of place).

Also Read the study guide on the Great Comet website. It's only a page and ... Read more Read less

Great singing, Enchanting, Slow, Cliched, Absorbing

See it if only for Glenn Close. The show IS her. I didn't love the show but Glenn is phenomenal. When she's not on stage, you wish she were.

Don't see it if you want a creative, inventive, etc etc musical. This is a very stereotypical musical. That's not necessarily bad, but something to remember

Relevant, Resonant, Thought-provoking, Great writing, Intelligent

See it if you have a profound care for art. This show's message is worth the price of admission. First parts were slow, ending sequence was amazing.

Don't see it if you are easily distracted and/or confused by accents, don't like slower, more methodical plays. Pretty wordy and artsy for the first part.

Funny, Great acting, Great writing, Intelligent, Thought-provoking

See it if you want a masterfully acted, equally funny and serious play dealing with social issues still relevant today.

Don't see it if you want an easy to understand play because there are a lot of metaphors, allegories and references that can lose you.

For a previous production
Delightful, Entertaining, Great acting, Funny, Great staging

See it if an immensely entertaining production that's easy to enjoy. Hilarious actors with perfect comedic precision. Worth it to see the utter chaos.

Don't see it if you want a thoughtful or intelligent production. Gets a little repetitive but fun all the way through.

Great writing, Great acting, Funny, Profound, Thought-provoking

See it if you want to see 4 actors at the highest caliber. Absorbing story with profound and balanced arguments. You do not need to see/read part 1!!

Don't see it if you want a resolute answer. The beauty of this play is that all 4 characters present equally compelling arguments w/o one being more right.

Clever, Entertaining, Fun, Refreshing, Touristy

See it if you want to explore New York with guidance, but in a fun and refreshing way. See parts of New York in a new light with a fun performance.

Don't see it if you don't like group activities. We had one person in our group that rudely took over everything and made the experience less fun.

Entertaining, Enchanting, Funny, Great singing, Romantic

See it if you want a perfectly put-together musical with strong and vibrant performances, with a beautiful, jewel-box set and memorable songs.

Don't see it if you want a strong and/or profound storyline. Somewhat rushed conclusion to an otherwise endearing story.

Don't see it if You don't enjoy sarcastic humor, or very witty humor.

98
Entertaining, Edgy, Intelligent, Must see, Great staging

See it if you like amazing acting and staging, in a play performed, written and directed like no other. Truly one of a kind.

Don't see it if you wanted a "pure" adaptation of the book. However, even purists will fall in love with the production.

See it if you want amazing performances by a talented cast. A beautifully told story.

Don't see it if you dislike wordy and thought-heavy plays.

Great singing, Absorbing, Overrated, Romantic, Classic

See it if you haven't seen yet, enjoy operatic performances but don't want to go to a classic opera performance.

Don't see it if you want a new or refreshing storyline or staging, or are looking for standout performances.

Cliched, Dated, Disappointing, Excruciating, Overrated

See it if you like historical musicals a la Jersey Boys.

Don't see it if even if you love Carol King, as I can't highly recommend this musical. Too cliche, too scripted, too unimaginative.

Ambitious, Exquisite, Masterful, Intelligent, Profound

See it if you like musicals, history, ingenuous performance, music. I'd recommend this show to anybody, even staunch critics of musical theatre.

Absorbing, Funny, Great acting, Resonant, Great staging

See it if You want a realistic drama with funny and tender moments and a great cast of actors. I couldn’t love this play enough.

Don't see it if You need an affirmative plot and/or dislike naturalism in plays

Delightful, Clever, Great singing, Riveting, Dark

See it if you want an amazingly intimate yet powerful performance. I loved the whole cast, esp. Sweeney (David), Carmello as Lovett and Anthoney.

Don't see it if you want a grand production or modern interpretation of Sweeney Todd.

Also Saw the original cast minus Norm Lewis!

Absorbing, Clever, Great acting, Intelligent, Riveting

See it if you want to see powerful acting in an amazing adaptation of Shakespeare. Sam Gold has crafted one of the greatest renditions I've seen.

Don't see it if you want classic Hamlet without modern styling or creative liberties, or you can't sit through ~4 hours of Shakespeare.

Falsettos
Midtown W
Clever, Funny, Great singing, Quirky, Entertaining

See it if you want to see a powerhouse ensemble in an equally funny and emotional production. Stephanie J Block is a standout.

Don't see it if you can't enjoy the quirkiness. This is sometimes a really strange musical. Adds to the charm!

96
Absorbing, Resonant, Profound, Great singing, Must see

See it if you wanted a beautifully crafted show with great emotional resonance. I did not expect to like this show as much as I did.

Don't see it if you want big, memorable numbers or a spectacle. The simplicity of this show makes it beautiful.

Present Laughter
Midtown W
Funny, Great acting, Great writing, Slow, Clever

See it if you want to see Kevin Kline and Kate Burton give superlative performances, with some funny parts in the first half and a great second act.

Don't see it if you don't want to wait 1.5 hours for the "action" to start. The first part is by no means bad but definitely slow at times, unlike second.

93
Great acting, Great staging, Great writing, Intelligent, Exquisite

See it if you want to see a masterclass in acting (especially by Linney as Regina) in a beautifully done production. Does not feel its runtime.

Don't see it if you find southern themes hard to follow or uninteresting. Cannot sit through a lengthy production.

Also Saw Linney as Regina and Nixon as Birdie. These are the Tony-nominated... Read more Read less

See it if you want an easily enjoyable show with great humor and surprisingly great singing. Songs are catchy and the puppets are great.

Don't see it if you want a big, flashy show. Easily offended by race/sex jokes.

Also The current Kate Monster actress is amazing! Highly recommend.

Great acting, Relevant, Informative, Intense, Thought-provoking

See it if you want to see great acting alongside a pertinent and important story. Very informative even if you know nothing on the subject.

Don't see it if you want a "play" play; this felt more like an immersive historical retelling than a performance. Some parts were repetitive to me.

See it if you can get tickets. It's truly amazing, with an incredible cast, songs, and staging. Ben Platt gives one of the best performances I've seen

Don't see it if you don't want to cry because I lost it near the last two songs.

Also I've seen this three times now and it hasn't lost its impact. I'm in a... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Great dancing, Edgy, Funny, Classic

See it if you haven't seen it. Should technically be seen by everybody as one of the classics of the Broadway stage. See it if you want great energy.

Don't see it if you are expecting an amazing musical. Even though a classic, it isn't my favorite. And I much prefer the movie's songs and arrangements.

90

Don't see it if you are sensitive to potentially offensive jokes.
