See it if
You like a unique vision mixed with puppetry and a refreshing change of pace in regards to story.
Don't see it if
You need everything tied up neatly or like the story to follow a simple 1-2-3 plot structure.

A REAL BOY is a compelling new work, one that it riveting even as it's a bit frustrating. However it feels like a great workshop of what is going to be a stellar and possibly bigger production. The ending metaphors get lost in the shuffle and I believe it's overwritten (it should definitely be a one act) but the unique vision of the playwright and great acting by the ensemble rises it above most fare Off-Broadway these days. Some faster pacing would be nice as well as some more detail to how the puppets are controlled. That being said, if you want a challenging piece of theatre that does follow the traditional norms of what a play "should" be, check out A REAL BOY. It's funny, heartfelt, and original....
