Entertaining, Great acting, Great singing, Must see

See it if You want a show that'll make you laugh one minute and cry the next, with incredible performances and excellent music.

Don't see it if You don't like female-driven stories or are very sensitive to themes of domestic abuse.

Who Would Be King
Midtown W
Fluffy, Quirky, Disappointing

See it if You enjoy off-the-wall zany humor or are intrigued by the idea of putting a twist on Biblical stories. You like physical theatre/clowning.

Don't see it if You have little patience for clown theatre, especially if it could use a lot more polish.

Edgy, Great singing, Thought-provoking, Intense

See it if You like incredibly well-written music and very strong performances, and won't mind if the piece still feels slightly unfinished.

Don't see it if You have difficulty with themes of abduction, coercion/rape, or suicide. You like your musicals uplifting and peppy.

See it if You want to laugh uproariously in one scene and be on the verge of tears in the next. You care about what's happening in the world.

Don't see it if You're not familiar with theatre, you don't appreciate "meta" commentary. You want to see something that's just silly without a message.

Rancho Viejo
Midtown W
Clever, Entertaining, Funny, Great writing, Refreshing

See it if You like realism - with a twist. You can appreciate a "slow burn" plot. You can laugh at the absurdity of ordinary people.

Don't see it if You prefer your drama with a big, yelling climax. You can't sit comfortably for three hours.

Relevant, Great acting, Disappointing, Slow

See it if You're looking for an educational play raising awareness about abusive relationships to bring to your school/college/student group.

Don't see it if You're triggered by themes of domestic violence or abuse. You're not interested in a PSA-type production. Poor pacing/staging bothers you.

Clever, Enchanting, Hilarious, Must see

See it if You're a Harry Potter fan, and you want to laugh nonstop for 90 minutes. You like parodies and satire that mock with love.

Don't see it if You aren't familiar with Harry Potter. The show doesn't stop to explain things and if you're not a fan, you'll probably be lost.

Ambitious, Great singing, Great writing, Unpolished, Entertaining

See it if You like acapella, shows with promise, and truly incredible musical performances. You don't mind if the staging/book is a little rough.

Don't see it if You can't stand awkward staging. You don't like when the story takes second place to the music (which is truly amazing.)

Disappointing, Overrated, Campy

See it if You love immersive theatre to the point that it doesn't matter if what you're being immersed in...isn't very good.

Don't see it if You're not a fan of 1960s B-movie sci fi. You don't think performer enthusiasm (they do have a lot) makes up for bad writing.
