Slow, Overrated, Disappointing

See it if If you're a die-hard Peter Dinklage or The National fan.

Don't see it if If you truly love Rostand's version of Cyrano. If you're looking for a musical where the songs aren't one note and lack storytelling details

Also Huge missed opportunity. This Cyrano edited out some of the most famou... Read more Read less

Ambitious, Clever, Disappointing, Overrated, Funny

See it if You loved Hamill's recent Sense & Sensibility and Vanity Fair. Same fun irreverence and anachronism, broad humor and upending the classics.

Don't see it if You're a P&P purist, and don't like yelling. Characters were strident caricatures; Lizzie, P&P's heart and soul lacked both heart and soul.

Also I was sadly disappointed by this P&P, having loved the author's previo... Read more Read less

Delightful, Great staging, Fun, Lighthearted, Drama-free

See it if Love Bette Midler, or even mildly tolerate her. Enjoy musicals without emotional drama. Like singable songs, bright costumes, big sets.

Don't see it if you like challenging musicals. Dislike Bette Midler. Don't want your experience to interrupted by a standing ovation for a set change.

Also Ok, I wasn't swept away, didn't cry and wasn't in rapt awe over the di... Read more Read less

Cliched, Enchanting, Great staging, Unsophisticated, Unmemorable

See it if You loved the animated move and Disney-style entertainment. You like musicals that don't push boundaries or make you think too hard

Don't see it if You love Dear Evan Hansen, Fun Home or anything by Stephen Sondheim, expect smart dialogue, & avoid Disney spectaculars like the plague.

Also It is what it is. If Aladdin floats your boat, grew up with the Anasta... Read more Read less

Great acting, Great singing, Great staging, Great writing, Relevant

See it if You want to see the 2017 Tony Best Musical, hear a great score, see a masterful and emotional performance by Ben Platt, and laugh and cry.

Don't see it if you're not interested in a musical about teen suicide, social media impact, the emotional rollercoaster of being a teen today.

Also This is not an old school, song n dance, good time musical, but a mode... Read more Read less

Ambitious, Lively, Uneven, Upbeat, Clever

See it if Surprise! Josh G=best thing in it. Better suited to it's original small venue than a big Bway stage-doesn't match the hype, but still fun.

Don't see it if You dislike atonal music, Tolstoy, and operatic lyrics lacking rhyme. Side seats mean obstructed views.

During previews
Intense, Intelligent, Great writing, Provocative, Fair

See it if Historical drama with a modern POV. A great script but not sure Liev S carried the day, was as seductive, sensual and cruel as was required.

Don't see it if I know it's not fair to compare but I saw the original production, and this seemed dated in comparison. A little too flip, not enough edge.

Thought-provoking, Intense, Funny, Boundary-pushing, Resonant

See it if To think, be challenged, even have uncomfortable moments, see phenom talent, and laugh at the same time. Smart, painfully honest, brilliant

Don't see it if experimental theater, racial issues, sexual content and nudity aren't your thing.

Intense, Trying too hard, missed the mark, noteworthy effort

See it if You like new interpretations of the Bard. Uneven acting and mixed gender roles never quite gels. Applaud the effort, not the production

Don't see it if You're not into Shakespeare. You know nothing about Shakespeare. You've never heard of Shakespeare.

Great acting, Masterful, Must see, Emotionally compelling, Great singing

See it if Singing that shake the rafters and lifts the heart; Cynthia Erivo is a must-see wonder; a story of real pain that ends with redemption.

Don't see it if You only like old-school feel-good musicals and light entertainment that doesn't occasionally go to dark places - even with an uplifting end

Delightful, Enchanting, Refreshing

See it if You love old-fashioned musicals and happy endings. This is a candy box full of treats: top talent, great score, dancing, scenery and staging

Don't see it if Musicals aren't your thing at all or prefer singing and dancing to come with overwrought drama and dour attitudes.

Great writing, Absorbing, Emotional, Tedious, Intense

See it if You love the writing of Cheryl Strayed. If you love Cheryl Strayed. If you're like emotional pieces that make you reach for tissues.

Don't see it if You don't like plays that lack a plot and don't move forward toward resolution, and hearing people's sob stories isn't your thing.

Also TBT is, essentially, a staged reading of Strayed's book of the same na... Read more Read less

See it if An impactful one man show on his military experience, PTSD, and healing process thanks to theater and acting and Shakespeare intrigues you.

Don't see it if Hearing about war and PTSD isn't your thing. You're looking for something light and fluffy with big sets and production numbers.

Also Confrontational, exhilarating, this make-you-laugh, make-you-cry monol... Read more Read less

Disappointing, Great score, Lighthearted, Resonant, Off

See it if This was a dress rehearsal, so not in final shape. Still, far from the best version of this classic.

Don't see it if You don't like Sondheim, or you don't know Sondheim or if you're looking for a linear story with big production values.

Also Tough call, because this is a favorite of mine, and it was a work in p... Read more Read less

See it if What can be said that hasn't been said before? It's everything it's cracked up to be. Beg, borrow, steal, tickets. Do the lottery every day.

Don't see it if See it. See it if you don't want to. And if you don't like it, you'll have the boasting rights to be one of the few on earth who doesn't.

Clever, Sexy, Provocative, Surprising

See it if Ballet, modern dance, pole dancing, burlesque, glittery jock straps and g-strings, amazing voices, in a cabaret setting + a mythical story

Don't see it if Bare bottoms aren't your thing.

Ambitious, Profound, Original, Thought-provoking, Masterful

See it if You like theater that pushes boundaries and expands minds. Sets new standard for experiential and Simon McBurney's performance is Tony-worth

Don't see it if The idea of wearing headphones for 2 hrs 10 minutes doesn't appeal. If a straightforward, linear play experience is your thang.

The Crucible

Great acting, Great staging, Intense, Thought-provoking, Relevant

See it if You want to see a brilliant modern interpretation of a classic that resonates with today and points to the ease of how mob rule can spread.

Don't see it if Heavy drama, zero laughs, a ton of dialogue or Arthur Miller isn't your speed.

The Golden Bride
Nostalgic, Delightful, Great singing

See it if You've ever wanted to see genuine Yiddish theater and want a delightful, lighthearted evening without dysfunctional drama or unhappy endings
