This well-directed play is delightful.
It is a testament to Kerr's good writing that a play that is almost 60 years old holds up so well! Even though it is now a "period" piece, the characters and issues are still very relate-able and there is even a thread of modern feminism. The performances are terrific, especially by Heather Cunningham who's comic timing and delivery is spot-on. She is very well cast in this role as are the rest of the actors. Chris Harcum is appropriately nervous and tight, Desmond Dutcher's dry delivery and comic timing is wonderful, Meghan Jones is an adorable and bubbly breath of fresh air and Robert Franklin Neill as the aging matinee idol is hysterically accurate. The set is BEAUTIFUL and the costumes are perfect. There were some technical difficulties on opening night but that is to be expected and the actors handled them with grace. All-in-all, this is a great show with a lot of modern resonance and could be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of humor.... Read more Read less
