See it if you love David Byrne's music and you want to see his concert in a considerable small venue for the top of the line audiovisual experience.

Don't see it if you expect to see a typical Broadway show with a story and thorough structure of a musical. If you are not familiar with Talking Heads music

Also The spectacular, sold out show in Hudson Theater exceeded my expectations. This was not a typical musical. It was an audiovisual, fully choreographed sensational presentation of David Byrne's music. The captivating energy originated on the stage emanated into the audience and made us all stand up throughout most of the show, as if we were at the concert, since this is what it really was.

The show was opened by Spike Lee, who announced that he would make a movie version of it and the whole show was filmed that day. The simplicity of staging and the uniform look of all the musicians made me focus on the essence of the message stemming from the songs. The message of absurdity of the world around, the affirmation of unity among the people and also a pure joy of existence. I was in a state of mental ecstasy when the show was over. See it if ...you don't mind being entertained by really sad stories.

Don't see it if the idea of happily singing along "we are gonna die" does not appeal to you.

Also We're Gonna Die is a sequence of stories told by the singer of the band performing on stage. The stories are presented in a chronological order and intertwined with music. Each story with a passage of time gets grimmer and grimmer, to the point of culmination in the depressing grand finale. The balloons descend on stage and into the audience and all are encouraged to sing along with the band "We are gonna die". Well, hopefully not now!

I loved the music in this show....if only the lyrics were not that depressing.

See it if you are open minded to the mixed media theater and you're ready to see a modern take on a classis Broadway show.

Don't see it if you value your time and money, since the show feels more like a movie, than a live theater.

Also I so wanted to love this show......and I failed. I rushed out of the theater, first customer out the door tonight, singing Mariiiaaa! I love the music of this Broadway classic. And that's about the only thing I loved tonight.
During this one act show, one hour and 45 minutes long with no intermission, I felt cheated of a live theater experience.
In what seemed like a streamlined video on instagram, we were visually transported into the streets of NYC, then Puerto Rico and back to New York. The overblown pictures projected on the wall were fully capturing my attention, to the point that whatever was going on on the stage in front of me felt like an unnecessary distraction. The choreography seemed random, and dizzying.

Westside Story is a big production, however with hardly any props. I don't mind the simplicity of staging shows these days, yet what I saw tonight was not enough. Also turns out I am not a big fan of mixed media.

See it if you are insensitive to the tragedy of September 11

Don't see it if you value your time and money.

Also Come From Away was anything, but good. I felt appalled that anyone would consider making money off the events surrounding Sep. 11th.
Any New Yorker who was in the City that day would not appreciate the joyful at moments, and rather pointless attempt to show the unity of people stuck on a remote island in Canada on the day that so many perished. I resisted the idea of seeing the show for the longest time and I was right. When I was in the theater it felt wrong to hear from the stage the snippets of the news about the attack intertwined with some trivial comments about animals stuck on the plane without food. No comments.

Much talked about choreography is overrated.
The show has a couple of songs though that under different circumstances I would enjoy.

Overall, there are so many other great productions on Broadway, much better than this one, that you can simply skip Come From Away. You will not miss much. I'd say, let them Go Away From Broadway.... Read more Read less
