Diane Paulus serves as the Artistic Director of the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University. Directing Credits include, Broadway: A.R.T.’s WAITRESS (opening April, 2016); A.R.T.’s PIPPIN, Tony Award for Best Direction and Best Revival; A.R.T.’s 2012 Tony winning revival of The Gershwins’ PORGY AND BESS and The Public Theater’s 2009 Tony winning revival of HAIR. A.R.T.: CROSSING; THE DONKEY SHOW; PROMETHEUS BOUND; Tod Machover’s DEATH AND THE POWERS: THE ROBOTS' OPERA, finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize in Music; Best of Both Worlds; JOHNNY BASEBALL. Other recent work includes INVISIBLE THREAD (formerly WITNESS UGANDA) at Second Stage and Cirque du Soleil’s AMALUNA. As an opera director, her credits include THE MAGIC FLUTE, DON GIOVANNI, and the Monteverdi trilogy, among others. Diane is a Professor of the Practice in Theater in Harvard University’s English Department and was selected for the 2014 TIME 100, TIME Magazine’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was awarded the 2012 Founders Award for Excellence in Directing from the Drama League.
