See it if I cannot think of a solid reason to recommend this tedious, messy, amateurish show; however, the actors are working hard to bring it to life
Don't see it if Incredibly inept book and lyrics, with an occasional hint of real music. Given the prominence of the writing team, it's hugely disappointing
See it if Strong ensemble acting. The leads were good and everyone works well as a unit. Some heavy edits to the text, but it works well, generally.
Don't see it if If you are unfamiliar with the play: you may find yourself lost at sea. I wish there had been more directorial inspiration + clarity.
See it if The physical production and staging are first-rate, and the acting, overall, was outstanding.
Don't see it if It's a dull play lacking in humor or insight. As a political allegory, it's a confusing and non-specific one, given the state of the world.
See it if The actors were giving it their all, despite playing wooden points of view, not real people.
Don't see it if An inept, needlessly long and shout-y play. It's not the far right politics that turned me off--it's the amateurish playwriting.
See it if ...you find sibling relationships and dysfunctional families intriguing.
Don't see it if ... you dislike children onstage, because they occupy more than half of the stage time.
See it if Loved it all: incredible score, beautifully sung and acted. Terrific ensemble in a gripping story.
Don't see it if It's among Duncan Sheik's best songwriting, but not everyone is going to love the score. And it's a heavy story, but one well told.
See it if Decent performances, but no one really stood out to me. Directorially, a real let-down: the staging and choreography were mediocre.
Don't see it if if you were expecting a really smart update/rethinking of the original material. It's not.
See it if You are a Kate Mulgrew fan. Watching her work was a singular pleasure. The other actress is good, but nowhere near as compelling.
Don't see it if I'm probably in the minority: I didn't care for the play at all. Talky, dull, static, and slow-moving.
See it if Loved Solea Pfeiffer as adult Eva: singing, acting, total star presence. Peron also very good. Score sounded amazing with onstage orchestra.
Don't see it if Lots of ambitious directorial choices, and only some of them work. Didn't love Che, young Eva, the set, or the choreography.
See it if Klea Blackhurst was born to play Merman musical comedy heroines, and she does the Merm's memory justice here, as well as others in the cast.
Don't see it if The show's hardly worth a visit, much less a revival. The book is tired and the score isn't close to Porter's best.
See it if Some very clever ideas and decent performances ISO.. a different show. A couple of outstanding songs and some inventive staging.
Don't see it if For a dark comedy, it was lacking an essential energy and edge. And frankly, humor.
See it if An interesting contemporary take on Chekhov's themes of love and desire, money, property, and identity.
Don't see it if It's talky and irreverent. The show confronts the audience in a manner some may not care for.
See it if Beautifully acted and staged, fully felt.
Don't see it if It's a good but not great play. Wish the playwright connected the family's struggle with the larger global forces at work. He did not.
See it if You like dancing
Don't see it if you're a snob
