See it if This is an immersive evening at a club, with loud music. Theres great energy, and the tracks are pretty exciting.
Don't see it if You dont love the idea of standing for hours in a crowded nightclub with blaring music. This is not a traditional play in a theatre
See it if You can enjoy a venerable group of artists who avoid show biz cliches
Don't see it if You are too impatient to endure slow developing simple human interactions presented simply and quietly.
See it if You are open to an earnest story of humans behaving well. I know, hard to believe sometimes...
Don't see it if You are a cynic or expect a traditional Broadway musical score, sets and costumes.
See it if You want to see recognizable performers run through their paces.
Don't see it if You don't enjoy a challenge. This was tough to sit through.
See it if you can get a ticket! Very unique and touching. Cleverly staged.
Don't see it if You want big dance numbers and splashy choreography. This is more intimate, tho the music is fantastic.
See it if You are somewhat unsophisticated politically, and don't mind a rehashed morality tale you've already seen. Plenty of splash and flash...
Don't see it if You're a theater snob, where you'll find the music just serviceable.. I found it generally over-hyped...
See it if you want to see somewhat timeworn stories of gayness being played out yet again. (OK parts of it are pretty funny and the end is a surprise)
Don't see it if a 3 person play without that much to say leaves you, well, limp.
See it if you're a teenaged girl with an American Idol, (oops, The Voice) sensibility.
Don't see it if you don't want to hear strident vocals and songs which beg to be lowered at least a minor third. Yeesh!
See it if you have at least a passing knowledge of the source material (The Seagull, duh..) and if you appreciate good rogue acting.
Don't see it if It would drive you crazy that the show is probably 20 minutes longer than it needs to be...
See it if You enjoy a good old fashioned review, performed mostly expertly...
Don't see it if You're looking for something cutting edge or modern, or if you are looking for meaning.
See it if You enjoy classical music and some shticky humor, all in good fun, very well executed by a very talented cast of opera singers.
Don't see it if You are super serious and don't like the classics tampered with....
See it if you enjoy a light comedy featuring urban twenty somethings...
Don't see it if you prefer heavier messages or something more dramatic.
Also I found the set really convoluted and confusing.
See it if You love the material and appreciate clever staging and performances. Much of the music is superb.
Don't see it if It is happily now a bit of a period piece and there are a few treacly ballads which simply don't hold up to the overall quality.
See it if you want to be dazzled by superior stagemanship, enormous cast, gorgeous sets, and crisp dancing.
Don't see it if you cant abide hokey, family fun. Theres nothing new or thought provoking here, just escapist spectacle. (Not a bad thing!)
See it if you enjoy juke box musicals, and aren't expecting anything groundbreaking. Performance scenes are quite exciting, well staged and lit.
Don't see it if You don't care for the rags to riches story and/or the music of Frankie Valli.
See it if You loved the go-go eighties, and enjoy cartoony characterizations. Oh, and guys in their undies. Interesting staging..
Don't see it if You abhor violence, and require a believable storyline. Music is rhythmic but ultimately not very memorable, esp compared to the old hits.
See it if you want to support fresh, new theater, wonderfully performed
Don't see it if controversial topics make you squirm, or if you're looking for splashy costumes and sets. Its not that type of show.
See it if you like half naked and hairless choristers, and love a crazy pastiche of songs you'd never imagine being presented together.
Don't see it if you're looking for something with a message, or any contemporary relevance... (I saw it twice, though, so there's that...)
See it if you have a respect for one of the great classics of the American Theater. Every song is great, the dances are amazing, and its relevant.
Don't see it if You're an anti semite or someone who likes to check their phone during the show.
See it if you have a pulse and are not immediately turned off to anything even vaguely hip hop
Don't see it if you're a curmudgeon, or if you're willing to not know what all the fuss is about. Or if you can't get a ticket....
