See it if First impression is an ode to Payne's "Constellations" but evolves. Decent story, no new insights, common youth & immigration problems.
Don't see it if Don't enjoy non-linear format or repetition by design. Play holds interest, but if aware of world it's just different way of writing it.
See it if Who hasn't asked why we don't appreciate life's simple things? Here it's wrapped in a family story about Hispanic immigrants legal and ...
Don't see it if Looking for something special. Author weaves a decent, interesting story in making her point(s). But there really is nothing new.
See it if Marvelous portrayal of true-life horror and Hnath's mother's memory of events and how she survived. And how she still grapples with it all.
Don't see it if Have a problem with an actress bringing emotion and life to the actual person's voice. This isn't Milli Vanilli or FBI Files on Court TV.
See it if Pleasant story that while not offering great revelations holds one's interest and makes for a nice evening. Sometimes a happy play is fine.
Don't see it if Romantic-style comedy with some TV-type parts and a struggle with faith is not appealing.
See it if No surprises in plot, reveals are obvious, but it doesn't take away from engaging, empathy-drawing, historically-based story and music.
Don't see it if Building a play that's enjoyable on many levels, father-daughter relations among them, on one of history's horrors not first on your list.
See it if To those who recall movie, no one can replace Adolph Caesar, but this is still worthwhile. More so to those who don't recall movie.
Don't see it if No reason not to unless one does not care for an honored work pointing to sad truths ̶ particularly about race ̶ past and present.
See it if Love doesn't conquer all, clever trumpet work & new musical with decent songs appeal. Honest look at alcoholism & people involved plus ...
Don't see it if Realistic look at aspects of life, love, hope, baggage people carry and original music not for you. Want more of an emotional pull.
See it if Interested in a different & enjoyable approach to history, in this case 1945-1969. Writer/performer makes his points, at times with hammer.
Don't see it if Solo shows are not for you. Miller is quite the artist and the show clearly & admittedly means a great deal to him.
See it if Enjoy Hnath's work. Followed his advice and went in with a blank mind, not looking to SS or anywhere else for clues. Worth it. Good story.
Don't see it if Not looking for challenge or play that asks viewer to concentrate & take in the non-verbal expressions & gestures, particularly McDonnell.
See it if Interested in how we relate, come together and handle difficulties in this author's view. Scenes tie together without becoming trite.
Don't see it if Looking for better than just decent (at least in my opinion). Hamlin, Powers so what. Play promotion may have set expectations too high.
See it if Enjoy SAG's work, his humor, language, ability to draw you into a story, care about its characters and paint a picture of the marginalized.
Don't see it if The length scares you. I found the story and characters interesting so that I did not feel like I was there for more than three hours.
See it if Enjoy biographies especially in the hands of a true pro who keeps us invested throughout. We see her truth and are given the truth as well.
Don't see it if One woman shows, even about a person considered ahead of her time, not for you. Think it's sold out. Try checking the day you'd like to go.
See it if Interesting reworking seems geared to capitalize on, insure position in NY anti-Trump circle jerk. Unique in how author questions his play.
Don't see it if Tired of all things Trump. No revelations. No need to be hammered with danger to America. Felt like Kushner & Eustis celebrating friendship.
See it if Sisterhood & the journey with timely a cappella and a few deep lines giving clues to the meaning of life, but nothing you haven't thought of
Don't see it if Ars Nova no longer has $22 tickets and that may be overpaying. I realize the pros love Ars Nova and they may love this, but wasn't for me.
See it if Fun, pleasant musical that looks at America through a different lens, but the satire and humor often felt preachy. Some good music, worth it
Don't see it if Don't like stories that grow from a real-life event. Have had enough political theater involving current personalities.
See it if Not a happy reflection at loss, growing old, love. Paying attention a must as one could get lost. A decent story if willing to do the work.
Don't see it if Adverse to mushrooms. Want simple play to follow. One of best lines insults those who try to understand. Better than many pro critics wrote.
See it if Interesting look at race relations, sex & power, with fun jabs at therapy. Want to see for yourself what all the fuss is about. Worth it.
Don't see it if No reason not to unless you believe nothing new to tell in way of race relations. Have read so much about play, feels like you've seen it.
See it if Enjoy Letts' wit, wisdom and words. Good for laughs, holds interest with "real" people and meaningful dialogue. Felt like Letts was in play.
Don't see it if Don't like Letts. Act 2 more serious and one scene did not play well with me. Prefer smooth flow rather than episodes. All-in-all worthwhile
See it if 20-somethings gather for one reason, obviously becomes something else with a narrator to clarify more-or-less. Plus there's a guy downstairs
Don't see it if Want to care about characters. Was not drawn in or curious as to where writer was going. Felt as detached as characters. Maybe the idea?
See it if Fair, interesting, honest presentation of opinions normally subject to sarcasm & ridicule on NY stage. But final scene lost me.
Don't see it if Discussion of conservative/religious issues by drunk & sober characters not appealing. Don't like endings that seem to open new areas.
See it if Enjoy plays based on historic events. Well-written conversation between protagonists draws you in and provides plenty to think about.
Don't see it if Not much on history. Prefer larger theaters over small, intimate setting of Irish Rep basement.
See it if Two well-told stories that are still works in progress (saw second preview where it was announced that lines were still being changed, etc.)
Don't see it if Plays currently run in the 3.5 hour range. New theater seats help. Some parts especially in Runboyrun could have been shortened.
See it if An interesting, well-told story with no frills and fine performances. Marvelous staging brings all the subtleties out of the shadows.
Don't see it if Deliberately slow. Don't enjoy Pinter. Saw it in England. Prefer plays with pep.
See it if Interesting approach to troubled passage from childhood to adulthood. Lived up to Wohl's description in the Playbill of what she intended.
Don't see it if Need the mystery or reasons to be resolved or clear. One reveal, to me, was obvious. Want play that takes longer than round-trip train.
See it if An interesting adaptation of Wright's work that clearly hits the playwright's view of the key points and brings forces at play to light.
Don't see it if Boris Max and Rev. Hammond don't make the cut. If you feel a major work should not be presented condensed. The alter ego might not appeal.
See it if Documentary of mining disaster brought to life using the real words of survivors teamed with Earle's wonderful score. Unique in approach.
Don't see it if Happy what you're after. This is honest. Steps to disaster visible, yet no one can stop it. Want to think of corporations as benevolent.
See it if Well-told tale offering lots to think about involving memory, past, future. Two excellent back-to-back songs get to heart of main characters
Don't see it if Looking for songs that will stay with you, set your toe a tapping or leave you humming. Nice, worthwhile story, not that special.
See it if A well-told, enjoyable story that draws you in & holds interest but doesn't feel original, except Natalie Portman angle.
Don't see it if Basically boils down to family in crisis with added orientation plot, certainly not unique. Might help to brush up on Portman portfolio.
See it if Lots of levels to deal with, obvious being the 3 simultaneous stories & often dialog. But one adjusts & interest was held throughout.
Don't see it if Rough, but worthwhile subject & while I'm not sure I buy the inherited theme, that could be due to my lack of education in the area
See it if Brevity, balloons and catchy tunes. What more is needed? Different approach to looking at life and reaching the end in just over an hour.
Don't see it if Want show longer than train ride from NJ. Happy dance wasn't for me, but dance never is. To me, all it did was get show past hour mark.
See it if Enjoy Linney's work on stage & on screens large and small. This will not disappoint and if one listens the story draws one in.
Don't see it if Unwilling to get into story, listen & focus. Want something to do with wife before pitchers & catchers report. She'll enjoy it, you ...
See it if Fine, often compelling, look at element of working class often ignored on stage & in life & how race obliviously/sans malice comes into play
Don't see it if In story that holds interest some aspects unresolved. Want less subtle look at being a minority in small town & what it's like to feel alone
See it if Well-done, decent piece, good for laughs with old joke that to some was new. At best when focused on Alexander and Cromwell with Park assist
Don't see it if Realize Urie is a fave of pro critics & others, but part was a bad stereotype to me and one segment, some laughs aside, could have been cut.
See it if Enjoy A.M.'s music. Don't mind show that covers most of the hot topics of families, lifestyles, race, rape, opiates to name a few. Lots here
Don't see it if Don't like A.M.'s work. Want a clean uncluttered musical. This covers lots of bases with songs about real things.
See it if Like stories of young people coming of age & overcoming assorted dilemmas. Some of music stayed in my head, to me marking a decent musical.
Don't see it if Don't like musicals. My hearing woes with dialects often left me lost. No interest in 80's rock. Missed out on $25 previews.
See it if All things Einstein, fact or fiction, intrigue. The play missed the T of R 100th anniversary hoopla, or did it? For after all, what is time?
Don't see it if Looking for a blockbuster number. Music good, but nothing special. One of main characters singing hard to understand. Einstein, so what.
See it if Enjoy the wit, insight, wordplay (including title) of Eno. Can appreciate simplicity and the little moments that shape us or not.
Don't see it if Looking for a standard style play. This is more like a photo album where one dwells on individual shots that are actually linked.
See it if A well-told, well-performed story that holds interest right through the end and lives up to it's billing as a worth-seeing work.
Don't see it if Prefer standard-style plays. This is more like a book coming to life.
See it if Enjoy Nelson's plays on everyday life. It's triumphs, tragedies and how "regular folks" relate to, deal with the world at large. Fine work.
Don't see it if Tired of seeing Sanders, Plunkett seated around wooden table at The Public. Interpreting dance not strong suit. For me, hearing hard enough.
See it if Food opens the door to a different way of looking at genius, pursuit of excellence and the effects on all involved including the genius.
Don't see it if No interest in restaurants or one view of the price of genius. Fear of a flashback to Hugh Jackman preparing a fish. Relax, won't happen.
See it if Know of it, but have never seen it. Holds up under the "all-knowing," "enlightened" gaze of 2019 as an honest, thoughtful piece.
Don't see it if Well-miked, but still had trouble with clarity on some of lines, but that's my hearing. Some lines said in Spanish & French. I speak neither
See it if Uncomplicated, honest story, performed by a veteran cast, that will hold your interest making for an enjoyable evening.
Don't see it if Play seems geared toward people of a certain age. If not of that age or interested in that type of tale, this one may not be for you.
See it if Interesting look into minds of teenage girls that goes from amusing to cruelty to surreal. Holds interest. Never saw Wolves.
Don't see it if Have trouble when characters all talk at once. Don't speak Spanish and would rather not have to look up what was said on website.
See it if Despite my problems with sound quality (important since everything is sung) and hearing all words, music & performances make this worthwhile
Don't see it if Don't like musicals. Want complex plot. Could have used clearer words. Left me lost in one key scene. However, all in all, worth seeing.
See it if Grew up with, like the Beatles. Playwright's imagined conversation between John & Paul based on a Paul interview makes for enjoyable evening

See it if Well-told story in a unique style that is often difficult to watch especially if you know someone who has lost a loved one in this fashion.
Don't see it if Unlike the theme song, suicide is not painless. And a graphic, realistic tale of suicide and its aftermath may not be to everyone's liking.
See it if Interesting concept that starts off as a great deal of fun with witty banter and for me falters in end, not living up to PH AD's description
Don't see it if Want a play that maintains it's level of entertainment and fun right to the end. I understand what ending was meant to do, for me it didn't.
See it if They love it in England. Like the music as the songs are done well and sung well. Out for an enjoyable time where the music tops plot flaws.
Don't see it if No taste for Meat Loaf. Will be bothered by a plot seemingly a cross between Peter Pan, lame sci fi and a long list of star-crossed romances
See it if Enjoyed Series A. Found these three plays more compelling than A particularly look at PTSD and a take on race relations and friendship.
Don't see it if Same reason as not to see A: No interest in three short plays, particularly ones where relationships and communication are among themes.
See it if Historical look at girl growing to woman in troubled times. Parts a bit slow, but Rabadi did wonderful job bringing daughter/mom to life.
Don't see it if One-woman plays about historical figures, even little known ones, don't call to you. But this is a story worth telling and learning about.
