See it if You like to see productions in a massive space on a large scale
Don't see it if You want really cohesive acting from the ensemble. You want to be engaged the whole time as this doesn't do it. Good moments here & there
See it if You want to see a Sam Shepherd classic reenacted.
Don't see it if You don't like small spaces and/or small productions or don't appreciate uneven acting.
See it if You enjoy seeing teen driven musicals with a pop score.... Have the patience to sit through a less funny 1st act to get to the 2nd act.
Don't see it if You want something deep or heady as this is not the project for you. You don't want to see another cliched American High School Story.
See it if You have the patience to sit through a truly unfunny Act 1 to see Act 2 which is basically saved by the Strong Female Detective Character.
Don't see it if You want smart, consistent and engaging writing. You want originality of plot or concept. A good takeoff of Macbeth...this is not.
See it if You like one man shows executed by an experienced storyteller. You can relate to themes of loss and living on the edge.
Don't see it if You do not want to see a theatrical event that explores a New York character that basically no longer exists - an artist on the fringes.
See it if You want to see an absolutely absorbing play exploring Nazi Germany through sports which mirrors today's political dilemmas.
Don't see it if You do not like small scale productions and need scenery, etc. as all you get is the story (which I mentioned above is riveting).
See it if You enjoy bad theater because this one is really bad. It looks as though it was improvised on the spot by a cast that was just assembled.
Don't see it if You don't like bad theater (see above).
See it if If you like a reworking of Shakespeare with contemporary music thrown in. You like decent acting.
Don't see it if You don't like small bare bones productions. However they do a lot with what they have and the sound and lights are excellent.
See it if You want to be bored to death and treated to horrendous "singing" and "acting" or if you are curious about the Shed Performance Space.
Don't see it if Don't waste your money. It is the worst thing I have seen in ages. The NYT review is right on and a somewhat funny. Read it first.
See it if You like relevant topics that explore class tensions and worker/owner relations especially in our era of union busting.
Don't see it if You don't like small scale productions which rely 100% on the actor ability to engage as there is nothing to distract your attention.
See it if You like themes similar to Waiting for Godot and don't mind being confused at the beginning. Things became clearer as the act went on.
Don't see it if You are not patient and want an obvious story from the start. You don't like dark themes that are once again relevant in our age.
Also Great sound design....evokes that era perfectly.
See it if If you like small scale spectacle and circus like performances by scantily clad acrobats and dancers and don't mind a lot of "mugging."
Don't see it if If you want a coherent plot line and and evening that is 100% engaging. I was alternately bored and interested depending upon the segment.
See it if You like a well acted show if somewhat cliched, covering familiar themes of "the Irish troubles."
Don't see it if You cannot last though 3 hours and 15 minutes and like clear dialogue since sometimes the accents got in the way of clear understanding.
See it if I went to see this play last night and it was an unexpected surprise. The cast deliver a professional representation of the material.
Don't see it if This is a small scale play in a small theater. While I prefer smaller since I think it is more immediate it might not be for everyone.
See it if The show seemed tired the night I saw it.... one of the leads seemed to be marking the dancing.
Don't see it if Don't know about other nights but this night was poor... that is the problem with a long running show.
See it if You like informal reworkings of ancient stories set to a contemporary score and songs.
Don't see it if You do not like small scale productions, cannot sustain your attention or don't like to be close to the actors.
See it if You want to see a semi nude burlesque and acrobatic show with minimal plot in a great Brooklyn space...well produced!
Don't see it if If you have seen one of these productions before. This is very similar to the Spring production....a one time experience in my opinion.
See it if You want to say a beautifully staged revival in a translated version. Enjoy stories that are relevant to today's ethnic problems.
Don't see it if You expect a fast paced and energetic production. This production is more muted and understated and very simple.
See it if You want to see a reworking of Shakespeare using sixties pop music.
Don't see it if You don't want to see basically what is a student production of actors at different levels of development and don't like Elizabethan English
See it if You want to see a moving and exquisite take on an ancient play.
Don't see it if You don't like to read subtitles, don't like paying attention to various acting and movement elements at the same time, want a rapid pace.
See it if You like pop music videos since this feels like one long repetitive video with some high points here and there...similar songs throughout.
Don't see it if You expect a coherent story, decent acting or characters you actually care about.
See it if You like non linear performances that incorporate dance, acting and singing. You like interesting salon spaces.
Don't see it if You do not have the patience to experience uneven acting and singing as the performance level overall is not quite professional.
See it if You can accept the themes that drive "Trump Country" crazy, that is gender fluidity, sexuality, difference and diversity.
Don't see it if If you are narrow minded, i.e. "Trump Lover."
See it if You want to see an absorbing play composed of 3 seemingly separate monologues which eventually coalesce that is delivered by great actors
Don't see it if You can't sustain your attention for the hour and 40 minutes to absorb the story and prefer something with more "action"
See it if You want to experience a well crafted show that is funny and engaging ......And that is saying a lot for a new musical given the offerings.
Don't see it if Can't think of a reason not to see it.
See it if You like dark themed plays that are relevant due to today's divide between urban and rural parts of the world.
Don't see it if You are not patient with accents as the actors are sometimes hard to understand due both dialect and accent.
See it if You like large scale revivals with a full orchestra and a theater space with decent views from all angles and you enjoy good singing.
Don't see it if You are bored by dated and slow revivals even if this one offers a more feminist take on the material. The 3 hours felt like 8!
See it if You like random circus acts, some better than others. The music is the best part....excellent and interesting music.
Don't see it if It feels long even though it is not because large portions are just not that interesting...standard jugglers, etc. sort of fare
See it if You like great acting by a strong ensemble cast.
Don't see it if If you don't want to see another play about success and status anxiety. This theme has been explored better in many past projects.
See it if Always a good project. Good singing and acting even if low energy during Act 1. Act 2 came to life energy wise.
Don't see it if You don't like small spaces. About 24 seats total...smaller than a cabaret room and ambitious for a musical.
