Quirky, Edgy, Disappointing

See it if You like edgy improvisation with no particular direction.

Don't see it if You're expecting real clowning, topical material, to be uplifted or to laugh a lot.

Also I wasn't sure what to expect, but I didn't expect the presentation I s... Read more Read less

See it if You appreciate excellent writing, historical subject matter, women's and ethnic issues and discovering new acting talent.

Don't see it if You can't handle being in a raggedly and I think somewhat dirty theater space. Seriously this is the only drawback.

Also I saw the show on the first preview night and didn't know it at the ti... Read more Read less

See it if You like topical material, a kaleidoscope of intense scenes, and a non-traditional theater setting

Don't see it if You like traditional plays in a traditional setting

See it if You want to see a Tony Award winning actress and a great cast at the top of their game. You appreciate masterful playwriting.

Don't see it if You cannot get into baseball at all, have no appreciation for women's history and black history, do not enjoy brilliant theater.

See it if You can appreciate a woman's perspective on love, what passes for love, sex, lust and lovers as she matures from puberty to middle age.

Don't see it if You dislike one-woman shows, feel uncomfortable about candid talk on sex, orgasms, depictions of masturbation. Note: nothing is in bad taste

Also Lois Robbins stars in an autobiographical show about her life, chronol... Read more Read less

See it if You love amazing staging and spectacle in a soaring space, are a fan of choreography, Asian storytelling, martial arts/Kung Fu and Sia.

Don't see it if You prefer a traditional theater experience, want an intimate theater experience, hate spectacle and do not appreciate Asian culture.

Also This is so worth seeing on so many levels. The Shed itself is such an ... Read more Read less

See it if The cast are all improvisational geniuses with often great comic and slapstick timing. High cleverness and ultimate of thinking on your feet

Don't see it if You dislike improv. I found the "theater" itself to be on the edge of rundown grossness. Can't they find a better venue??

Also I would take more people to experience this extremely talented cast an... Read more Read less

See it if You want to catch this amazing, multi-talented cast and enjoy American musical theater at its best before it hits broadway.

Don't see it if You do not like to be dazzled by talent. You do not like pieces dealing with the civil rights era and the American South.

Also I appreciated that every number moved the plot forward, and the songs ... Read more Read less

See it if Highly intimate, experiential theater in a raunchy nightclub setting is your thing, and you like overpriced badly mixed bar drinks.

Don't see it if You are expecting much more than an offbeat theatrical experience/

See it if You are into songwriting, the music business, Latin music, hiphop, character studies, family dramas, coming-of-age, sparse sets and staging

Don't see it if You expect world-class playwriting, accuracy in terms of the music business and how music artists record and create, fleshed out characters

See it if You want to experience an ensemble of A-game actors in a well-written, thought-provoking, contemporary, well-directed piece in 3 acts.

Don't see it if You do not enjoy contemporary themes, dislike Susan Sarandon or you are not interested in seeing anyone onstage over the age of 29.

Also The cast was absolutely remarkable, AND there was not a wasted scene o... Read more Read less

See it if A marvelous actress tells her true story and hits all the notes, emotions, pathos. Very real, very current, very intimate. Don't miss it.

Don't see it if Some may consider this one woman show the theatrical version of a chick flick. Vulnerability, relationship/ marriage/family front & center.

See it if Pro acting, daughter was a standout. Very overwrought and somewhat cliched on the hippie front as the characters would have had to be older.

Don't see it if You are not into death and dying and family dynamics for 2 hours. Spoiler alert: you get the full enchilada complete with death rattle.
