See it if You like big belt-y songs, original storylines, inclusive representation, suspending all shred of belief.

Don't see it if you chafe at weak lyrics (rhyming More with More), bloated and convoluted plot, or an absurd conclusion.

Also This show is trying to do too much, it's like 4 shows in one. Highschool clique musical meets familial drama mets murder mystery meets star crossed lovers. The plot twists will give you whiplash and the ending is unsatisfying.

See it if You're a a real fan, a theater enthusiast, and already know the man and the music.

Don't see it if You're looking for a hefty plot (this is held together by the barest thread of a device)

See it if You like well-crafted songs and slightly naughty jokes.

Don't see it if you don't like sexual or mildly violent content. There are some tough themes here (trigger-warning for verbal and physical abuse).

See it if You like a fun, fluffy show about love and the family you choose for yourself.

Don't see it if You don't like accents or production numbers.

See it if You're a Sondheim fan and appreciate his tongue-twisting lyrics. You appreciate strong vocals and simple but effective staging.

Don't see it if You're looking for full staging - encores productions have limited rehearsal and the actors are on-book.

See it if You like to see multiple spectrum of diversity represented on the stage and appreciate strong acting.

Don't see it if You aren't willing to have hard conversations about race, sex, ability, and class. If you are squeamish about nudity.

See it if You want a show that's well acted, or you're curious about the rest of New Orleans that's not Bourbon Street.

Don't see it if you're looking for subtlety in the writing, it can be a bit heavyhanded,

See it if You want to know the back story behind many of the hit songs of the 60s and 70s.

Don't see it if You only want a "feel good" show, there are some very sad moments.
