See You
West Village
Riveting, Must see, Intense, Great acting

See it if you enjoy great writing and acting, and want a thoughtful meditation on the social media phenomenon.

Don't see it if you want story lines and drama. This is conceptual theater about a narrow but timely topic affecting our society.

Also Concept is one note but who cares when it hits the mark? I loved it.

Slow, Great staging

See it if you like to challenge yourself, and if you support experimental theater.

Don't see it if you don't like mature themes, slow pacing. Writing is far below the team's last effort. Too much exposition, and not enough light moments.

Must see, Great writing, Great acting, Edgy, Ambitious

See it if you like great Broadway shows with edgy setting, expert acting, great script; and rags-to-riches stories, LES, socially conscious plots

Don't see it if are not interested in seeing how other people live their lives

Great staging, Great singing, Entertaining, Enchanting, Absorbing

See it if you like well-produced blockbusters with great singing, staging, and a modern story-line

Don't see it if you think the youth are ruining the world

Entertaining, Dated, Clever

See it if you like Urie

Don't see it if cannot sit through a three-hour show with heavy themes

Oedipus El Rey
East Village
Great staging, Edgy, Entertaining, Absorbing, Ambitious

See it if you like edgy, energetic, entertaining show of immigrant experience from a great writer

Don't see it if you have no interest in the minority experience

Intense, Absorbing

See it if you believe in redemption for criminals seeking to remake their lives, or care for racial inequities in modern America. Intense monologue.

Don't see it if you are looking for deep dissection of the racial issues - the exploration remains at the surface. Also, much yelling and shouting.

Also Once it gets going, the play is one straight monologue presented by th... Read more Read less

Funny, Edgy, Ambitious, Confusing

See it if you like experimental theater where not everything fit together. The first half was funny and entertaining, eventually it turned dark

Don't see it if you don't like audience participation which is very mild but it's there; or heavy themes with strong language and pushing boundaries

The Infinite Wrench
East Village
Edgy, Dizzying, Ambitious

See it if you like improv, short vignettes that vary in quality, fishing the pearls from the ocean

Don't see it if you are impatient, can get dizzy from the sheer numbers of scenarios, want to think deeply about what you just saw

Refreshing, Disappointing, Ambitious

See it if you like experimental theater, support small artists, and don't mind seeing three plays with similar themes

Don't see it if you don't like to take a gamble on small artists - when going in you know that not all three will be great.

Rock of Ages
Midtown W
Slow, Great staging, Cliched

See it if you are nostagic for rock and just want some light entertaintment

Don't see it if you are allergic to product placements as this show feels like a series of commercials; or are looking for something serious

East Village
Thought-provoking, Epic, Great writing, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if are interested in the national conversation around immigration, particularly from South America; and if you enjoy great writing.

Don't see it if you have no empathy for immigrants, or if you don't like shows without intermission
