See it if If your expectations are modest-low , you may be pleasantly surprised. Good acting, dated...but real for the era. Engaging.
Don't see it if It's truly a bygone era so won't resonate with some. Script has flaws (Lily's repetitive naivety grinds) but basically worth seeing.
See it if It's simply stunning, clever, clear and brilliant lyrics.
Don't see it if Can't help you here ... don't see it if you can't get tickets for a reasonable price? Luckily I won lottery!
See it if Good acting, writing; absorbing, stimulating, but too unclear at times. Headache from low lighting whole show.
Don't see it if The set is way too dark, unnecessarily dark & it's real distraction, annoying. We can't have lights on while hearing challenging dialogue?
See it if Mare Winningham & others- great. Songs often creative & beautiful, good singers, but too many in SAME mushy style, no bite, frustrating!
Don't see it if Didn't even sing most of Girl From the North Country! Unrealized potential. Challenging to create story from these songs!
See it if Absorbing historical drama; explores big moral & political questions...and lies. Well written & acted. Loved post show discussion.
Don't see it if Not interested in history?
See it if you're enticed by a fascinating story and stunning acting, breathtaking presentation, often funny, fantastic set.
Don't see it if not in mood for historical drama.
See it if excellent acting, good pacing, thought provoking examination of issues and conflicts that arise for those who are "differently-abled".
Don't see it if you're not in the mood for an intense play that requires some concentration and attention.
See it if A show with strong ensemble cast, pretty solid writing, some humor, politically relevant .. a great effort.. appeals to you.
Don't see it if Church has pros and cons. Visibility /sound could have been better. VG acting - main actress needed to slow down, speak up!
See it if you're interested in early history of an important theater; it's a "conversation" between insiders, often interesting
Don't see it if you're annoyed by excessive mumbling; also, missed opportunity to say more about Robert Moses
See it if you want to lend support to young female company, with good intentions
Don't see it if some racing thru the lines without imparting weight or meaning, running around (tiny stage) without meaning.. might confound you...
See it if you can absorb a complex effort to tackle race, class, solidarity, globalization, male/female and age issues.. pretty successfully!
Don't see it if See it. You'll deepen understanding of work, working class, race and the union values that were the glue of our communities and country.
See it if you're ready for intense, thought provoking, politically relevant and hard-hitting story telling in a minimalist setting.
Don't see it if you're not in the mood for challenging "monologue" style short dramas.
See it if you like opera and/or Mozart; you can laugh at the delight of tradition and revolution melding in an innovative explosion of joyous music!
Don't see it if you're stuck on formality; you have no sense of humor; and you have no empathy for the politics of today; you hate subtitles.
See it if you like innovation and can appreciate fast paced and zany improv-like acting, and can be patient with some plot confusion!
Don't see it if you want traditional and linear "drama".
See it if You're open to irreverent hilarious humor. BUT see different cast (not Cody Strand). My 3rd time going, worst cast almost ruined it.
Don't see it if You'll tire easily of Strand's compulsive "hamming"; screaming laugh lines; frenetic movements & incomprehensible phony voices. Just awful.
See it if you loved the book
Don't see it if ... it's kind of loud ...
See it if Good singing by all. Tango dances enticing. Generals' musical chairs solid. Lovely to hear Argentinian voice/accent in Maia Reficco. But...
Don't see it if Problem in direction: both women's mic at times too loud, words incomprehensible (esp Reficco) alienating. At times, orchestra overwhelming
See it if Interesting family dynamics and moral dilemmas. Excellent acting.
Don't see it if Frustrating dialog: actors backs turned; talked too fast; no effort to compensate for heavy accents or seat distance (I was front mezz.).
See it if A moving meander thru history & memories, framed around an inspiring activist. Lahti is fantastic, very emotional. Great videos/talk back.
Don't see it if Best to be open to historical subject. It's serious but not heavy, not preachy. Very worth seeing
See it if Fun, entertaining, lots of participation. Creative spontaneous skits, songs. Good "crowd management" despite some nutty kid behavior.
Don't see it if I blame parents more than kids when there is terrible behavior right in front of them. Get a grip parents, you're in a shared public space.
See it if Powerful, well paced but sad exploration of how youth (thru nationalism, economics, their psychology, & manipulation) are led to war.
Don't see it if you don't want to see riveting one man show
See it if Rylance enchants, singing is beautiful, sets & lighting beautiful. This one's not @ the "story" so much as an appreciation of the artists.
Don't see it if you aren't patient with opera & period play. A bit confusing, but acting & singing = well worth it! My partial view $32 seat was great.
See it if you can enjoy a deep exploration of friendships, life's highs and lows, disappointments and successes, and you like "real" conversation.
Don't see it if I can't fathom the criticisms of this ambitious, well written play. It's talky but deep, interesting & paced well. Reflections on life...
See it if You are open to political analysis with new insights; can be patient with his over the top personality! It's worth it, positive & funny.
Don't see it if ... see it!
See it if Wonderful "slice of life vignettes" not yet..."PLAYS". Female POV in era of oppression; often sensitive, humorous, insightful, like poems.
Don't see it if You're impatient w/ "work in progress". Low key and well written. Heads up: great debate in audience @ the action/meaning of one story!
See it if Intense drama, good staging and acting, excellent theater company appeals to you
Don't see it if Is it the novel or acting? The obsession falls flat, not credible. Her sadism & his masochism is exhausting. Hard to feel empathy/invested.
See it if you can appreciate thought-provoking subject matter, a serious theme, in a well written and well executed play.
Don't see it if you're in the mood for light entertainment.
See it if you can appreciate a small scale show with a talented and hard working illusionist; good for kids too
Don't see it if you can only get a back row seat - visibility in this theater is not great for acts that sometimes required looking at stage floor..
See it if You follow the crowd to boring, predictable shows. Occasional moments of enjoyment are enough for you.
Don't see it if you don't like loud, almost screeching noise level. Plot, dialog and songs are mostly forgettable.
See it if You like creative, engaging staging; great singing, and a show that takes risks and succeeds!
Don't see it if Just see it ! It's good for all types of audiences.
