See it if you want to see a poorly done NYMF or Fringe show insult the Broadway stage. Cool fights. Good puppets, but not enough of them.

Don't see it if you expect Broadway to symbolize any set of standards. Not the actors fault-they were all talented & working hard-the show itself was awful.

Also I am a lover of the theatre & appreciate the skill that must go into a show to make it work. I don't usually feel compelled to write a review this negative. Despite the cast all being super solid, talented & committed, & the sword fights being incredibly engaging, this show was frankly insulting to sit through. The direction was terrible (a lazy attempt at recreating the magic of Peter & the Starcatcher), the book was super confusing (and for a show with an intended audience of children, that is a huge problem), & the music was generic, with the exception of one song in Act 2 whereupon the characters are riding on an elevator to Hades. See it if You like an animated cast, 70's & 80's pop-culture references, really awesome music, a girl-power message, and a generally fun time.

Don't see it if It's not a serious piece, but it definitely touches on serious social issues in a smart & amusing way. I'm sorry to see this one close!

See it if You love the movie! They did a great job at expanding the universe. Alex Brightman fills Michael Keaton's shoes delightfully. Fun show!

Don't see it if You're looking for a serious, dramatic show. This one is a silly, horror romp. Not particularly impressive staging, but enjoyed the sandworm

See it if Glenda Jackson & Ruth Wilson's performances are incredible. Excellent story telling via costume design for Goneril & Regan. Clever Staging

Don't see it if The performances were inconsistent. Great costume design for the leads, but ensemble's looks seem to have been purchased at Old Navy.

See it if You want to see some very talented actor/musicians work really hard. They are funny & refreshing to watch, & frequently switch instruments.

Don't see it if You prefer to see a strong story unfold; this reeks of vanity project for the two leads who also wrote it. Cheesy, and lacks diversity.

See it if You care about artistry and attention to detail, clever staging, and amazing performances.

See it if You want to see very impressive actor/musicians play multiple instruments, and rock out to awesome arrangements of Grateful Dead songs

Don't see it if You want a nuanced, dramaturgically driven story. But if you do, then why go see a jukebox musical in the first place?

Also This show is all about the music and the production value itself. The all around design elements are stunning (the set and lights are beautiful), the music is fantastic, from the high energy production numbers where the actors are not only playing the songs but dancing all over the stage and in the house, to the more intimate, acoustic songs. I like the Dead, but am not a Dead Head per say. However, I know their music well enough to know that these arrangements are great. And sure, the book is at times clunky, but it does have a lot of heart, some nicely carved out character moments, and clips by between the musical numbers, which are all quite spectacular. See it if You want to see a sincere piece of theatre involving some intense psychological relationship dynamics, gorgeous moments, and a strong script

Don't see it if Don't care for some over-powering sound design that takes away from the intense moments and reminds you of a 90's indie film.

See it if You interested in a clever twist on the classic Shakespeare.

Don't see it if You don't have the patience for a particularly long show--3 hours. But it moved quickly.

See it if The club singer had a great costume, and the soundscape was gorgeous. Too touchy immersive production of Hotel California.

Don't see it if Inconsistent design elements, indulgent performances, and a real desperation to come across as deep or relevant.

See it if very fun show with some raunchiness and great music. Great Sesame Street spoof!

Don't see it if You want to see a dramaturgically grounded show that attempts plot coherency. This one is ALL about style, of which, it certainly delivers.

Also Wow. This one was a great time-from the costume design that looked straight of a low budget 80's gang movie like The Warriors or Death Wish 3, to the set which included live streaming from an onstage camera person straight out of the Jerry Springer Show, to the staging of Tony Award winner Lena Hall literally sliding over a couch in a dream-like surrealistic state, to the text which at times makes the audience wonder: Did I just get high with Jack Kerouac? And I mean all of this in the BEST way-I laughed so hard & absolutely loved this experience. The voices were impeccable (a special shout out must be made to Danielle Steers who stole the show every time she opened her mouth-what an incredible talent!) & the cast was clearly having a blast with the material. Special mention to the director's choice to have the world's slowest motorcycle (but NOT actually in slow motion) ride into an epic crash while commenting on the speed. See it if You are a Chekov fan, or if you enjoy theatre that has sort of a semi-intellectual college vibe to it. Some solid performances in there.

Don't see it if If you want a show that moves. This one is a bit slow for my taste, and had indulgent direct address to the audience.

See it if The puppet is pretty cool.

Don't see it if you want any sort of coherent plot, good music, or if you love the original film. This is at times 42nd St, & at times sloppy B-Movie.

See it if You want to see beautiful dancers & circus performers. Great talent on that stage, gorgeous costume design, & immersive scenic design. Sex!

Don't see it if Self indulgence of the creator manifests its way into the work itself. Run time too long for a sex driven variety show. Nightclubby/B & T.

See it if The book is strong, & it's quite funny. Clearly the writer worked very hard to update the material. The choreography is fun, & cast is good.

Don't see it if You want to see a new story, or anything thought provoking. The music is very weak as well.

See it if Absolutely beautiful staging and lights, tremendous costumes, some Broadway caliber talent in the cast, and VERY relevant in today's world

Don't see it if There were some kinks with the sound system, and the first act could enjoy a few cuts, but I'm not docking points, because this show rocks!

Also I attended the opening yesterday, which was the same day as Hilary's concession speech. It was a somber day, and I went to theatre (specifically to see something downtown and edgy) to remind myself that there is a community out there who will rise up.

And boy was I right. The director made a house speech declaring that the show would be performed in defiance of bigotry, and it really truly was. In times like this, the world needs art that isn't afraid to be bold, and this piece is bold, centered on LGBT issues, and is a historical epic focused on persecution and the right to love. I am telling my friends to see this one while it lasts (very short run) and I am going to see it again before it closes. See it if A super sexy production with highly skilled dancers in fabulous costumes and very high production quality.

Don't see it if It runs a little on the long side, and the incense are overkill, but I am not docking points because the visuals are gorgeous.

See it if Enjoy a well put together musical about friendship and diversity, with some very catchy tunes and fun makeup

Don't see it if you are a fan of the novel--it candy-coats the entire story line.

See it if Beautiful, highly detailed design elements. This one is really for people who love immersive theatre and want to be part of the action

Don't see it if You'd rather not wear an uncomfortable mask and chase actors around as they try to make you uncomfortable as part of the experience

See it if Great costumes, a lot of funny moments, and a high quality of talent on stage. Fun choreography and staging, amazing cast, beautiful voices
