Great singing, Ambitious, Great acting, Cliched, Banal

See it if You are already a Judy Garland Fan. If you want to see a young actress CRUSH it onstage.

Don't see it if You are expecting something incredible or unique, you can't handle saccharine songs, you want to hear an entire song sung by the lead

Also My BIGGEST gripe with this production is that Ruby is amazing as Judy,... Read more Read less

Ambitious, Interesting, Great singing, Confusing, Banal

See it if You want to see High School Musical meets Rent. It's basically that.

Don't see it if You are expecting "Rent" levels of writing skill. The cast is incredible the writing needs a lot of work.

Also I'm torn on this one. On one hand there are genuinely A LOT of things ... Read more Read less

Midnight Street

Insipid, Great singing, Great acting, Disappointing, Confusing

See it if You want to see terrible theater and the waste of an amazing actress' talent. Emily Afton brought life to otherwise garbage theater.

Don't see it if You can do literally anything else. Helping your friend move into a walkup would be a better use of time.

Also The script is laughably terrible. There are far far too many ballads. ... Read more Read less

Ambitious, Great acting, Dated, Enchanting, Thought-provoking

See it if You like seeing more diverse productions on Broadway.

Don't see it if You're expecting to be swept off your feet. The acting is lovely but Spring Awakening did more for the deaf community.

Great acting, Ambitious, Disappointing, Great staging, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see great acting and pretty amazing directing in a tight space.

Don't see it if you need your scripts to be tight. The script is weak even with the production values at 100%

Also It's sad to say that I didn't love this- because the creative team is ... Read more Read less

The Fantasticks
Midtown W
Cliched, Entertaining, Romantic, Fluffy, Cute

See it if You want to see a classic show or need somewhere to go on a date. It's a sweet show that nearly everyone has seen.

Don't see it if You want to see something new or innovative. Cast rotates out a lot so someone great today might be terrible tomorrow.

Great acting, Great writing, Great staging, Thought-provoking, Profound

See it if You want to see a great piece of contemporary theater. No need to have seen A Doll's House recently to appreciate the brilliance here.

Don't see it if You don't like plays or if you expect classic literature to remain untouched. This amazing riff takes the original work to new places!

Ambitious, Thought-provoking, Riveting, Profound, Must see

See it if you want to see the best thing currently off Broadway... if you know that there is no need for fancy set or costumes when talent abounds.

Don't see it if you're stuffy or just want song and dance from your theater. You won't leave with overwhelming joy, just incredibly moved.

Also So far, this is the highest score I've given a show on show-score... a... Read more Read less

Waitress (NYC)
Midtown W
Cute, Quirky, Delightful, Great singing, Refreshing

See it if You were a fan of the movie or Sara's music beforehand. It's not earth-shattering but entertaining.

Don't see it if You don't like your sweet with a side of heavy drama, you don't like female-helmed musicals, you want something "edgy".

Slow, Disappointing, Cliched, Okay, Meh

See it if you need to see it to complete your bucket list of seeing all Cirque shows.

Don't see it if you expect it to live up to Cirque's typical work... it will leave you disappointed when you consider how good it *should* be.

Relevant, Great singing, Great acting, Delightful, Enchanting

See it if you liked the movie, can appreciate a good drag show, want to support LGBTQ+ issues.

Don't see it if you are a little straight-laced. You didn't enjoy the movie.

Wicked (NYC)

Great singing, Must see, Okay, Book was better, Cliched

See it if you want a crowd pleasing show you can bring kids to. You're super into all things Oz.

Don't see it if you read the book and liked it. This show shares nothing with it apart from the name. It's a decent musical but nothing groundbreaking.

Hilarious, Intelligent, Must see, Raunchy, Clever

See it if you can appreciate both low and high brow humor. Want to see one of the hottest comedies on Broadway.

Don't see it if you are religious and can't laugh at yourself a bit. Can't stand rated R humor.

Great acting, Great writing, Quirky, Absorbing, Interesting

See it if you want to see Sally Field SLAY.

Don't see it if you expect perfection from your interpretations. Laura is talented- yet distracting and not appropriate for the work.

Exquisite, Great acting, Great singing, Profound, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see an amazing cast perform one of Sondheim's most difficult musicals.

Don't see it if Art isn't your thing.

Absorbing, Entertaining, Delightful, Clever, Ambitious

See it if You've seen his specials on Netflix, love a good magic show, can let go of reality for a night...

Don't see it if You can't handle magic shows, you don't like not knowing how things are done, you need a traditional musical to be happy.

See it if You're a fan of Mike already and/or you're a parent or may soon be one. There's lots to see here.

Don't see it if You don't like stand up or one man shows. You're expecting something raunchy or incredibly political.

Enchanting, Funny, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see an extremely progressive piece of theater with a handicapable actress who shines.

Don't see it if You can't handle comedy with a twinge of sadness. You go in with expectations of what it should be.

Entertaining, Fun, Fluffy, Cute, Enjoyable

See it if You want a fairly light crime comedy. It's pretty entertaining. Gold star fish puppetry too!

Don't see it if You're looking for perfect acting or a perfect show. It's "cute" at best.

Banal, Cliched, Dated, Disappointing, Excruciating

See it if You actually want to see a decent musical on Broadway and not just one song over and over.

Don't see it if you're smart. You're not a tourist.

Vanity Fair
Midtown W
Disappointing, Ambitious, Great acting, Meh, Weak writing

See it if You can look past a muddled script to see great acting and production values.

Quirky, Enchanting, Delightful, Sweet, Entertaining

See it if You liked Matilda and Curious Incident and wonder what it would be like to merge the two. You want a lot of heart in your musicals.

Don't see it if You expect something groundbreaking. It's sweet but the score is weak. Watch the movie right before or you may be lost.

Classic, Delightful, Entertaining, Great singing, Masterful

See it if You like classic Broadway theater with the amazing Bette at the helm. Huge set pieces, a strong chorus, and stunning production values- see!

Don't see it if You're looking for a modern or new interpretation or if you can only afford the balcony- set makes them all obstructed view! So frustrating!

In Transit
Midtown W
Banal, Cliched, Disappointing, Great acting, Great singing

See it if you want to see some amazing talent wasted on a piece that would have been better suited to the early 2000's.

Don't see it if you expect Broadway caliber writing to be on Broadway.

90
Delightful, Entertaining, Great singing, Great acting, Fun

See it if you want to see some talented kids bring the house down. Brace yourself for a Webber musical that isn't just two good songs. Refreshing!

Don't see it if you hate kids, expect a traditional Webber piece, or don't like shows that could be classed as "cute".

99
Enchanting, Great singing, Great staging, Masterful, Must see

See it if you want to see literally the best thing on Broadway currently (perhaps even compared to Hamilton!- gasp!)

Don't see it if ...there's literally no reason not to see it. It's incredibly beautiful and amazing.

95
Exquisite, Great staging, Masterful, Must see, Relevant

See it if you want to see one of the most beautiful shows to ever grace Broadway. It's pure art.

Don't see it if you're expecting the cartoon. This show is so much deeper than you can imagine.
