See it if you'd enjoy the irrational ramblings and outbursts of a sad, self-centered old artist with lots of energy but little intellectual substance

Don't see it if you want a truly thought-provoking script; or you hate cliches,i.e., crazy, brilliant, blocked male artist &ever-loyal, bitchy female editor

Also The visuals in this play were creative and appealing. Rupak Ginn was very good in the role of the young, aspiring children's book artist. Dan Lauria brought tremendous energy to his performance as the creatively-blocked artist, but didn't inspire empathy. He wasn't very likable. Don't see it if you think hallucinogenic drugs are immoral or you can't imagine having any compassion for OCD sufferers

See it if you enjoy ethnic stereotyping and nostalgia for the good old days when Dad lovingly threw a shoe at your head and everybody knew your name.

Don't see it if if you hate it when violence, family dysfunction and pathology are romanticized and unexamined.

Also If one were unfamiliar with Southern Italian stereotypes, I suppose this play might be fresh, amusing, and heartwarming, but it's hard to imagine anyone in the U.S. not having been already inundated with those cliches. As a Sicilian-American myself, I despise the pervasive and largely untrue images of low-life, crazy Italians slapping their children and beating up other people to protect the family's honor, etc. but life is beautiful because the family eats together. He is right that Italian families are fun, but unfortunately the play doesn't ever actually demonstrate the joy to which the playwright alludes.... Read more Read less

Don't see it if You are revolted by unquestioned religious devotion

Also In the end I was annoyed by this play because it presents 5 women who are devoted to Islam without examining why. The intent is apparently to demonstrate that Muslim women are interesting individuals, each with her own personality and story; that community is powerful; and religious ritual can provide a healing experience. Many audience members seemed to be moved. But the playwright doesn't question the validity of religion itself, and never tackles the violation of the rights of women so prevalent in Islamic practice today. I don't need to be shown that Muslim women are unique individuals. Of course they are. I need to understand why those individuals love Islam and how they are able to tolerate the dominant male culture so common among Muslims, even in western countries.... Read more Read less

See it if you are curious about the mind of Kafka (1883-1924), and fascinated by psychological ramifications of the child-parent relationship

Don't see it if you're looking for an entertaining story line or don't care for intense psychological exploration, the unguarded display of a tortured soul

Also This is definitely Fringe Festival material, not standard theater fare. As Kafka's letter to his father unfolds, I found the piece ever-more riveting, dramatizing how parents are and always have been GODS to their vulnerable children; treating that subject with depth and sophistication, yet absolutely lacking the common knowledge of therapeutic concepts so common today.... Read more Read less

He inhabits completely each of the 6 guitarists into whom he transforms seamlessly, and ultimately makes us love every one of them as they give freely of themselves and their music.
