Dumb and loud, Raunchy, Disappointing

See it if If you like raucous noise and manufactured "excitement" and bright lights

Don't see it if you dislike raunchy dumbed-down lyrics that are sloppily sung so the words aren't clear

Masterful, Great writing

See it if Interesting themes of self-knowledge and the lack thereof and the attempt to use relationships as a remedy for personal angst

An Ordinary Muslim
East Village
Absorbing, Ambitious

See it if You enjoy topical plays with confused and flawed characters

Don't see it if You have trouble with slow pacing. The actors are uneven in skills and the mother is weak at portraying her complicated situation

Midtown E
Entertaining, Ambitious, Clever, Skillful staging, too labored scoring

See it if you enjoy inventive staging- clowns! a side romance! tennis balls all over

Don't see it if you aren't interested in the Riggs- King match or already saw enough in the film, which stops short of the palimony history

Upper W Side
Disappointing, Confusing, Topical but needs editing

See it if you like new works and are willing to sit for 3 hours. The play tries to pack too many ideas in -- the immigrant who becomes the oppressor

Don't see it if you expect a tight plot or dislike plays where the use of the same actors in various times or roles confuses you

Great acting, Disappointing

See it if fans of the comical Mark Linn-Baker will enjoy his schtick as an uninhibited and droll 60's leftover

Don't see it if you are already tired of "geezer" themes of ambivalent aging. It is not plausible that so much personal info is divulged in a group of 6

Also Some of the speeches feel like the playwright wanting to make points, ... Read more Read less

Great acting, Absorbing

See it if The acting is masterful

Don't see it if The plot is more a situation than a story, and the uncertainty of who is alive and who is not seems more clever than actually meaningful

Good for Otto
Midtown W
Banal, Cliched, Disappointing

See it if You are obsessed with psychiatry and enjoy polemics in the need for mental health services and the evils of health insurers

Don't see it if You are bored by long unresolved neurotic rants. This play is 6 maladies and a shrink with his own demons. Otto of the title is a hamster

Also Ed Harris and a talented child actor can’t save this psychiatric mushm... Read more Read less

Some Old Black Man
Midtown E
Cliched, Ambitious, Familiar problem, no new insights

See it if you are interested in the problem of an adult child having an infirm parent move in, with a clash of tastes

Don't see it if you are looking for new insights on this generational problem, though there are some snappy bits
