See it if You love Sondheim & want to see Patti Lupone steal every scene she's in. The gender swap works well & many of the numbers are sensational.

Don't see it if You hate Sondheim. You want the lead (Katrina Lenk) to be stronger.

Also Katrina Lenk is just not up to the rest of the cast and it matters, be... Read more Read less

See it if You don't mind dark musicals without splashy numbers. This is a disturbing, vivid look into a world where there are few happy endings.

Don't see it if You want a happy ending or hate Dylan's music.

Also I suspect a lot of people are going to dislike this show. You have to ... Read more Read less

Old-fashioned, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if You enjoy old-fashioned musicals with strong acting, singing and staging.

Don't see it if You want music you can hum-it's pretty forgettable. The show is also too long; beginning could be shorter & 1 or 2 of the songs could be cut

Also I enjoyed the show, but I felt there were some problems with the revam... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if You're interested in weighty topics (Cambodian genocide) & a play that is well-written, well-acted & well-sung. The music is strong as well.

Don't see it if You want something fluffy. This show has some wonderful parts, but it's too long, and relies on too many coincidences.

Also It's a fascinating, little-known story (at least to many Americans), b... Read more Read less

See it if You want to hear the score-it remains as glorious as ever-in a production that has some good directorial touches, but overall doesn't work.

Don't see it if You want to see acting on stage - you could only see the actors on screen for large portions of the show - or you want a traditional show

Also The show didn't work for me, although I appreciated some of the direct... Read more Read less

Intense, Great staging, Dated

See it if You're interested in Richard Jones' work and you enjoy seeing a creative and versatile staging in the Armory.

Don't see it if It's very heavy-handed, & I think the themes-guilt, mob mentality, lack of moral compass-have been tackled better by other playwrights.

See it if You want to learn about the friendship between two extraordinary women and you enjoy good acting - Kate Mulgrew is wonderful.

Don't see it if You don't enjoy a talky play that is somewhat static - it was interesting, but it never really soared or elicited much emotion.

Great acting, Funny, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if Fabulous production of an iconic show. Groff and Borle are just wonderful, staging is great and it's just so much fun.

Don't see it if This is not a reason not to see it, but Tammy Blanchard's singing, especially in "Somewhere That's Green" is not strong & had pitch issues.

Quirky, Funny, Entertaining, Clever

See it if you're interested in a darkly amusing musical version of MacBeth. Some of the material is very clever, & Umphrees & Johnson are standouts.

Don't see it if It you don't like dark humor or want a polished show. It loses a lot of steam in the 2nd act, & should be cut, & some songs aren't necessary

86
Clever, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if This was a very fun, entertaining and joyful show. Lots of nice performances and singing.

Don't see it if You want a profound or meaningful experience. It had a lot of clever jokes & staging, but it wasn't moving & didn't have a lasting impact.

Quirky, Refreshing, Entertaining, Clever

See it if You want to see a quirky new play with excellent performances and interesting insights on medicine, ageism and feminism. Plus, it's funny.

Don't see it if My only real complaint was that the set changes took too long and there were too many of them.

See it if You want to have an enjoyable time. It's not a super edgy original show, but it makes you smile & feel good & the performers are excellent.

Clever, Ambitious, Entertaining

See it if You love Sondheim & want to see an interesting, ambitious production. The director makes some good choices in this stripped down show.

Don't see it if You want a linear show. It's not the fault of the actors and director, but the trajectory of the lead character isn't fleshed out enough.

89
Clever, Entertaining, Great staging, Ambitious

See it if Wonderful effects, good acting & the show got even better in Part 2 - there were some moving scenes especially about parent and children.

Don't see it if You don't know anything about Harry Potter. A lot of what made it fun was seeing how the director/tech staff made the books come to life.

Absorbing, Great acting, Great writing, Intelligent, Masterful

See it if You enjoy well-written plays with crackling dialogue acted by a talented cast. My only caveat is that the last 10 mins. seemed a bit extreme

Don't see it if you can't sit for three hours, or you just hate dramas.

Overrated, Indulgent, Entertaining, Ambitious

See it if You like musicals about teen-age angst with a strange, yet somewhat entertaining plot.

Don't see it if You don't like loud fairly monotonous music. Will Roland's role is similar to Ben Platt's in Dear Evan Hansen, except Roland is no Platt.

Overrated, Excruciating, Disappointing, Banal

See it if You're Cirque Du Soleil fan, b/c basically that's what this is; a spectacle, with lots of splashy set design & acrobatics, but no substance

Don't see it if You enjoy actual musicals. This is like a mashup of a zillion songs, few of them sung all the way through. Plot is non-existent.

See it if The show has some wonderful music and performances. Some of the material about internet addictions is absorbing and makes you think.

Don't see it if You want to connect emotionally with the characters. Ultimately, I found it lacking in depth-it was clever & topical but you didn't care.

81
Funny, Entertaining

See it if You like an old style musical that has some laugh out loud lines

Don't see it if This is essentially a very silly play, done well. I wasn't crazy about the first act, but the second act was much funnier and more charming.

91
Refreshing, Profound, Intelligent, Absorbing

See it if A true reworking of the old classic, the show offers some powerful insights. Cast is excellent & it sheds new light on some American myths.

Don't see it if If you really loved the old Oklahoma, you might find this way too dark and different for your taste.

Entertaining, Dated, Slow

See it if You like older, charming musicals with good old-fashioned songs. Most of the cast is strong -Worsham, Gotay and Davis were stand-outs.

Don't see it if You want a realistic story. Also, Randy Rainbow was not a particularly good actor and Cusack's voice had some weaknesses in the top range.

Funny, Uneven, Entertaining

See it if You like Quinn' somewhat haphazard humor. Has some very funny bits about America and modern life.

Don't see it if You want a consistently funny or perhaps more personal show - the humor was uneven and I wanted to like it more than I did.

87
Clever, Funny, Hilarious

See it if You want to laugh. It's a really funny show, and Birbiglia has a amusing perspective on marriage and especially children.

Don't see it if It's a bit raunchy, so I guess if you're a Puritan, you'd hate it.

90
Entertaining, Delightful, Great staging

See it if You want to see a wonderful production of an iconic musical. Dancing was great, acting was generally excellent, and it was just plain fun!

Don't see it if There are a few places where the book is a bit creaky, and some of the performances were not as strong as the original.

90
Absorbing, Entertaining, Great acting, Masterful, Resonant

See it if Wonderful version of Fiddler. Using the original Yiddush creates a depth and authenticity that is striking. Skybell is terrific as Tevye.

Don't see it if You find subtitles distracting (but they really aren't in this case).

Don't see it if You don't like nudity or avant garde theatrical experiences.

78
Entertaining, Great singing, Dated

See it if You enjoy beautiful songs sung by a cast with first-rate voices. The set design is excellent and the choreography is very well done.

Don't see it if You want a storyline that is intriguing. It's a pretty dated plot, and I thought that Mueller and Henry had very little chemistry.

86
Entertaining, Clever, Ambitious

See it if Ambitious production of a great musical. The director has done an excellent job with the large cast and the show is engaging and moving.

Don't see it if You want a polished Broadway-like production. The performances are uneven (one lead was fairly weak), and the stage can get pretty crowded.
