Queen of Hearts
Brooklyn
Great staging, Edgy, Exquisite, Entertaining, Enchanting

See it if You love XIV's work, this is their best yet! Great illusions, stage visuals and dancing as always. Professional and classy burlesque.

Don't see it if You are bothered by partial nudity or are opposed to a longer running time. Also check the location for weekend shows affected by the L line

Slow, Insipid, Disappointing, Banal

See it if You want to see a darker and more stripped-down version of the classic. Great singing from the leads.

Don't see it if You dislike change for the sake of change. It is different, which I don't usually mind, but different without much cause. Awful lighting

85
Thought-provoking, Resonant, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if You like Jersey Boys and want to hear some of the best vocals in a show. Better than your usual jukebox and very insightful and moving.

Don't see it if You don't like soul and motown music. Also, the lighting/projection use can be dizzying at times.

68
Great staging, Annoying, Banal

See it if You want to see phenomenal visual effects and see the fun movie transplanted to Broadway.

Don't see it if You want to be spooked or creeped. Beetlejuice is annoying and beyond irritating. Any part without him was fine

75
Thought-provoking, Slow, Romantic, Disappointing

See it if You want to see two great actors giving a subdued and very real performance. It is easy to relate to, but a little slow.

Don't see it if You like a lot of action, or want a set that makes sense.

All My Sons
Midtown W
Slow, Dated, Disappointing, Great staging

See it if You want to see a classic play onstage, with good performances from the leads. The set is also gorgeous.

Don't see it if You want a fast-moving play. The first hour dragged for me, and I was not amazed with Annette Bening.

79
Cliched, Great singing, Funny, Entertaining

See it if You want a fun musical with heart. Lots of dancing and endless Broadway humor and quips. Great cast as well.

Don't see it if You want something with more substance. While it tackles LGBT topics, still read as very frivolous and self-congratulating.

95
Must see, Great staging, Clever, Absorbing, Enchanting

See it if You want to see a loosely structured story displayed in amazing staging. Very accessible for nonBroadway folks. An ensemble piece like Comet

Don't see it if You are looking for something with more structure. The story is there, but it's more about how they do it.

80
Clever, Entertaining, Refreshing

See it if You liked Fiasco's presentation of Into the Woods. It is similarly playful and inventive.

Don't see it if You want a full production. At times the singing and orchestration was thin. Slightly flat acting as well.

90
Absorbing, Great acting, Great singing, Must see

See it if You want to see an extremely moving, yet funny, piece. Amazing voices, and stellar acting. Touches on many topics without being heavyhanded

Don't see it if You are uncomfortable with some small cases of nudity, or the subject of race and homosexuality.

Absorbing, Great acting, Great staging, Relevant, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see the story we all love adapted in a new way that still honors the original. The acting is phenomenal and it flew by.

Don't see it if You don't like longer plays. It went fast, but it ran close to 3 hours. Deals with race and violence.

88
Clever, Entertaining, Edgy, Great staging, Sexy

See it if You want to see some Austin McCormick's choreo performed by the most beautiful cast of men. Also really fun acts with pole dancing and acro

Don't see it if You are offended by near-nudity. It's butt's out the whole time. Or if you want dialogue. This show is mainly music accompaniment.

69
Great acting, Great singing, Disappointing

See it if You want to see some stellar performances. Some of the magic live is impressive. It is good for kids, but can drag a little.

Don't see it if You want it to be exactly like the movie. The new material fell flat. Also, there is not as much spectacle and magic as I wanted for Frozen.

80
Entertaining, Funny, Great acting, Clever

See it if You're a fan of the movie or want to just have a wonderfully fun time at the theatre. Great performances. I smiled the whole show.

Don't see it if You are bothered by bullying or some minor bad language. Or if you dont like projections. I thought the set, while cinematic was lazy/ugly

68
Disappointing, Slow

See it if You are interested in seeing a representation of Joan in a theatrical form.

Don't see it if You are going specifically for Joan's character as she isn't onstage frequently. Also most of the acting and physical production was sub par

82
Delightful, Entertaining, Funny, Classic

See it if You want to see (and hear) some of the most classic and iconic Broadway songs onstage. Beautiful set, done with poise.

Don't see it if You are not a fan of the older musicals. Very romance-centric but with more thought in this production.

95
Absorbing, Enchanting, Entertaining, Great staging, Must see

See it if You want to see some of the most incredible staging and magic. The show will cause some eyerolls for hardcore fans, but more joy than that

Don't see it if You don't wish to see your beloved characters progress. Jo helped on the script, but it is different than her story. Other than that, GO SEE

80
Ambitious, Profound, Resonant, Relevant, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see an installation piece. It definitely is not "theatre" as one would call it, more so an art piece. Beautiful set models.

Don't see it if You are expecting live action, or are bothered by wearing headphones.

88
Great singing, Great staging, Intelligent, Slow

See it if You like character studies. The plot is very slow and not too dense, but very beautiful about the random interactions btw characters

Don't see it if You want a fast-paced story, or are looking for contemporary music.

79
Afterglow
Midtown W
Absorbing, Edgy, Resonant, Relevant

See it if You want to see a relevant story involving gay culture in modern times. It is intimate and the small space is used well.

Don't see it if You are offended by full frontal nudity (there's lots). Also the play does not feel fully developed, but certainly not terrible in any way.

Great acting, Disappointing, Slow

See it if You enjoy Rylance's work, and enjoy historical dramas. The use of music is lovely. The visuals of the set, lighting, and costumes are great!

Don't see it if You don't enjoy slow pieces, or if you are looking for exceptionally strong characters. The whole thing felt one-note and slightly snobby.

82
Clever, Entertaining, Funny, Fluffy, Quirky

See it if You are a fan of Harry Potter and want to have a light-hearted and entertaining night out. Very funny and cute.

Don't see it if You want it to be a story like the books. It's obviously fan-fiction and has some small flaws, but is overall enjoyable.

60
Entertaining, Funny, Disappointing

See it if You like the overall story and are bringing a family

Don't see it if You want a spectacle. The set was basically nonexistent. Also the show is LOUD, lots of yelling and screaming.

95
Great acting, Great staging, Clever, Refreshing, Resonant

See it if You want to see one of Sondheim's best shows done in a remarkably unique and immersive way. Very entertaining and just as chilling as ever.

Don't see it if You don't like being fully immersed. It's not terrible, but the actors are very close and around you.

90
Indecent
Midtown W
Ambitious, Absorbing, Great acting, Great staging, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to be entertained and moved beyond words. The show is beautiful and very well done in all regards. A must-see for any theatre lover

Don't see it if You need flashy sets and over-the-top production values to keep you interested.

79
Betrayal
Midtown W
Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want to see great actors onstage with this classic. It is stripped down and very raw. But it works well.

Don't see it if You don't like spare, bare staging. The set also has very limited sight lines, so sit center. Also the play covers infidelity, so be ready

90
Resonant, Great acting, Clever, Absorbing

See it if You want to be challenged as a viewer. I am still thinking it over in my head days later. Amazing acting onstage, but very intense

Don't see it if Topics and depictions of racial aggression are triggering. This show will make you uncomfortable. But if you are triggered by this, don't go

50
King Kong (NYC)
Midtown W
Overrated, Banal, Disappointing, Great staging

See it if You want to see the puppet, the only thing worth going for.

Don't see it if You want to see a show that takes itself seriously. The show dragged, with forgettable music, and an ending song that was laughable.

69
Indulgent, Great staging, Banal, Cliched, Disappointing

See it if You want to hear Cher's main hits and learn about her relationship with Sonny. Also the sets and costumes are fantastic.

Don't see it if You are tired of the rushed, and hardly-thought-out plot of jukebox musicals that rush through to get to the songs.

88
Tootsie (NYC)
Midtown W
Great staging, Hilarious, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if You want to see an exciting, flashy, and FUNNY show. With updates to make it less offensive for todays culture, this show was so much fun

Don't see it if You are more easily offended by gender comedy jokes.

85
Entertaining, Refreshing, Funny, Great singing

See it if You want to see some incredible dancing, and hear Kelli O'Hara sing circles around the score. Good ol' Broadway show with a great cast.

Don't see it if You are not a fan of Golden Age Broadway. They updated it, but the basic storyline and structure are the same.

75
Relevant, Resonant, Thought-provoking, Disappointing

See it if You want to see a personal narrative onstage. It taught me things about the Constitution, and it was impacting to see her share her story

Don't see it if You want a play. The show is more a Ted Talk, and scripted or not, can feel like rambling at times. Also expect it to run over runtime.

82
Ink
Midtown W
Absorbing, Great staging, Great acting, Clever

See it if You want to see a fascinating story played out with brilliant acting and staging. Much more engaging than I expected!

Don't see it if You have a hard time understanding British accents. The speech is very fast and can be hard to keep up at times.

82
The Ferryman (NYC)
Midtown W
Absorbing, Great acting, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see a historical drama about a very specific time in Ireland's history onstage. Great actors all around.

Don't see it if You don't like wordy, lengthy dramas. Most of the action in the story is discussed, not seen. The accents are thick, but manageable.

70
Network (NYC)
Midtown W
Disappointing, Banal, Indulgent, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to see some phenomenal stage acting by Cranston and are a fan of the movie's message. Cool stage design.

Don't see it if You want good acting, or if you are expecting anything remarkably moving. Besides Cranston it falls flat and is pretentiously presented

79
During previews
Great acting, Resonant, Slow

See it if You want to see stellar acting all around from the cast members. The physical production is also impressive. Very emotional and powerful

Don't see it if You don't like slower plays. There is not much "action" per se, and the repetition of her developing Alzheimer's can result in it dragging

79
Entertaining, Funny, Great singing

See it if You want to see the movie transported directly on stage. Samantha Barks is a phenomenal singer. It's flashy, colorful, and fun dancing.

Don't see it if You're offended by some slight vulgarity. It's much toned down, but still the topic isn't great for super young kids.

40
Banal, Cliched, Excruciating

See it if You are entertained by Family Guy humor, and can relate to being in a band when younger. The cast gives it their all, which I respect.

Don't see it if You want anything with substance. The sets look cheap. The humor is basic and if you're sensitive can be crude. No sense to the plot.

79
Great acting, Great staging, Dated, Masterful

See it if You want to see a brilliantly staged production of this classic and watch Denzel's incredible acting.

Don't see it if You dislike wordy, older plays. There are moments that are labored over and continue too long about topics that I didn't care about.

80
Resonant, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Dated

See it if You want to see great acting with a moving relationship and want to see a story about deaf culture. It is slightly dated

Don't see it if Following along with the sign language and narration will bother you. I did not find it hard to follow though.

98
Absorbing, Great acting, Great writing, Masterful, Thought-provoking

See it if You want to laugh out loud, and then be moved to tears for hours. BRILLIANT acting, and a beast of a story. Incredibly moving and inspiring

Don't see it if You are homophobic, or are triggered by scenes involving some blood, and hospitals.

85

Lobby Hero
Midtown W
Clever, Great acting, Great writing

See it if You want to see a show that covers current topics in a professional manner while still having moments of comical.

Don't see it if You're going purely for Chris Evans. This piece has well distributed scenes between all the characters. Some serious topics are mentioned

78
Cruel Intentions
Greenwich V
Entertaining, Clever, Edgy, Great singing

See it if You are a fan of the movie and love 90's music. The music in the show is great with an incredible cast.

Don't see it if You are easily offended by sexual situations, or if you are hoping for a production. Keep in mind, 2 food/drink minimum for seating

90
Clever, Entertaining, Delightful, Great staging, Relevant

See it if You want to see an extremely inventive and high-energy show with remarkable talent. Wonderful nods to the cartoon, but still unique

Don't see it if You are looking for something high-brow. It's Spongebob. It's gonna be silly. Lots of children in the audience.

98
For a previous production
Nutcracker Rouge
Brooklyn
Delightful, Entertaining, Funny, Great staging, Raunchy

See it if You want to be transported to a land of sex, glitter, entrancing costumes and performances. The most fun I've had in months. Incred talent

Don't see it if You are offended by nudity.

60
Disappointing, Great writing

See it if You want to see an interesting take on the story with empathy from the Monster's point of view.

Don't see it if You want a full-fledged production. It is a small space overtaken by a set that limits the actors. Also some of the leads singing was rough

90
Absorbing, Ambitious, Great acting, Great staging, Intense

See it if You want to see masterful acting. The plot and visuals presented in this production are raw and emotional. Thought-provoking

Don't see it if You are triggered by drug and/or alcohol addictions. The story is very intense.

80
Anastasia (NYC)
Midtown W
Cute, Great staging, Funny, Enchanting

See it if You want to see some of the best projections on Broadway. The visuals are very cool and everyone in the cast is talented. Family friendly

Don't see it if You get motion sickness easily.

68
1984 (Broadway)
Midtown W
Ambitious, Dizzying, Thought-provoking, Riveting

See it if You are a fan of the novel, or dystopian stories. It is thought-provoking for sure. Also, see it if you want to be uncomfortable.

Don't see it if You are bothered by violence, blood, or are looking for a light night out. It is VERY intense.

85
Present Laughter
Midtown W
Clever, Entertaining, Great acting, Funny, Quirky

See it if You want to see some truly remarkable performances by the cast. It is funny, and Kevin Kline is wonderful. The set and costumes are gorgeous

Don't see it if You want a fast-paced, quick comedy. There are some slow parts and it is a little dated, but still very funny.
