Great acting, Entertaining, Ambitious, Relevant, Intelligent

See it if A wonderfully ambitious, absorbing, and moving exploration of how the world has changed for several generations of gay men.

Don't see it if The length will scare some people off, but if you binge Netflix, you will have no problem with this.

Also I loved this show. As some of the critics have pointed out, it is impe... Read more Read less

Great writing, Great acting, Entertaining, Great staging, Intelligent

See it if An extremely enjoyable and intelligent play about Rupert Murdoch and the rise of populist tabloid journalism. Fast-paced, funny, and clever.

Don't see it if No reason not to see it. It is the story of two wildly ambitious men and the rise of populist journalism and politics. Very relevant story.

Also I really enjoyed this play. It had a compelling story, great character... Read more Read less

Great writing, Masterful, Profound, Must see, Exceeds the hype. an extraordinary production

See it if The show blew me away. It exceeded the hype. Jeff Daniels is amazing. Aaron Sorkin's script is extraordinary — clever, poignant, and funny.

Don't see it if A show with universal appeal—people were sobbing by the end. The acoustics are not the best, so consider using the theater's headphones.

Also My only minor complaint is that the acoustics were not great in the ca... Read more Read less

Forgettable score, Uneven, Crowd-pleaser, Entertaining, Funny

See it if You are looking for some light, upbeat entertainment. The script is often quite funny (if uneven). The show's selling point is its humor.

Don't see it if This is a middlebrow crowd-pleaser. It is entertaining but fairly forgettable. The script is uneven and the songs are very weak.

Also PROS: ... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Great acting, Absorbing, Intelligent, Resonant

See it if The rare play that manages to be intelligent, thought-provoking, funny, AND very entertaining.

Don't see it if This should appeal to most theater audiences. I feared that an Albee play might be pretentious and slow, but it was very entertaining.

Also This is the rare play that manages to be both extremely intelligent an... Read more Read less

Profound, Riveting, Great acting, Great staging, Epic

See it if You want to see one of the most riveting and breathtaking performances of the year from the incredible Denise Gough.

Don't see it if This is an intense play about addiction. It will make some people uncomfortable, but it is a profoundly moving and compelling drama.

Also I saw the final performance of the play at the St. Ann's Warehouse on ... Read more Read less

Disappointing, Excruciating, Slow, Great staging, Overrated

See it if You love period dramas, gorgeous costumes & sets, Baroque music, countertenor arias, & Mark Rylance. You can overlook a very weak script.

Don't see it if You are looking for a cohesive narrative. It is fragmented and I found it painfully dull. You don't like countertenors or Baroque music.

Also I really wanted to like this play. In fact, I extended my stay in New ... Read more Read less

Great writing, Great staging, Great acting, Great singing, Must see

See it if The show was fantastic. The singers were amazing, the songs were powerful, the story was compelling, and the choreography was great.

Don't see it if If you really dislike Alanis Morisette’s music or rock music, this is probably not for you. Also, the music does get loud at times.

Also I saw the show in previews. I was not sure that I would like it becaus... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Disappointing, Edgy, Indulgent, Overrated

See it if I strongly disliked the play. Fans of absurdist, confrontational theater might enjoy it. Some interesting ideas, but dreadful execution.

Don't see it if A convoluted mess. Raises some interesting ideas on race and identity, but they are lost as the play descends into absurdist farce.

Also ** NOTE: Those who plan to see this play might want to avoid reading r... Read more Read less

A jukebox musical on steroids, An amazing spectacle, Great staging, Great singing, Must see

See it if The show is amazing. The songs are great. The singing and choreography are fantastic. The sets are incredible. A joyous spectacle.

Don't see it if If you don't like campy, over-the-top musicals or pop music. It is sexy in a burlesque way, but I didn't find it gratuitous.

Also I hesitate to call the show a jukebox musical because that has pejorat... Read more Read less

Must see, Epic, Great singing, Great staging, Dizzying

See it if A high-energy spectacle. Great score and cast. Aaron Tveit & Karen Olivo are fantastic. The sets are amazing. A joyous night at the theater.

Don't see it if A smart, joyous crowd-pleaser that should have wide appeal. But if you hated the movie (or pop musicals), it may not be for you.

Also Just saw the Boston production of the Broadway-bound Moulin Rouge, whi... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Entertaining, Intelligent, Resonant, Slow

See it if You enjoy slow, reflective character studies. The show explores everyday people and their longing for connection and love.

Don't see it if This is a very slow, reflective show. It is essentially a play with music. If you want a high-energy Broadway show, this may not be for you.

Also The show is a slow and meditative look at a group of characters thrust... Read more Read less
